Dear Parishioners,
Today, members of the St. Vincent de Paul will be collecting outside our church after all Masses for their Winter Appeal.
It has been such a cold winter so far - I cannot help but think of those who have no warm place to sleep or whose
homes are unheated or who do not have hot food to eat. The comforts we enjoy should not make us complacent, but be
a reminder to us of those who have little and a reminder that we need to act in support of the poor. The St. Vincent de
Paul Society works tirelessly on behalf of the poor, offering practical support, advice and advocacy. Please open your
hearts to their appeal today.

VACANCY: REGIONAL COORDINATOR
Personal Advocacy Service (PAS) is an archdiocesan agency that provides one-to-one support for people with intellectual disabilities to enable
them to live fully as active members of their local community.
PAS is seeking a motivated person to coordinate the delivery of the Personal Advocacy program in parishes of the Archdiocese. Specifically,
this person will support the development of volunteer advocates as they respond to the emotional, spiritual and social needs of the people with

know Jesus more deeply in this Year of Grace.

YEAR OF GRACE AND FAITH
The year ahead has been designated to "Grace and Faith". We ask our
community to look within themselves to see what they can do, and in fact
what we can do as a community, as to how "grace and faith" can add more
depth and significance to our lives and how we might enhance the lives of

Exploring the Person, Life and Message of Jesus
A 6 week Maranatha course
at
Infant Jesus Parish
presented by Dr. Michelle Jones
Fridays 9.30am – 11.00am,
from 27 July – 31 August inclusive
This course takes a long and loving gaze at the
person of Jesus. As well as looking at Jesus as a man
of his times and the Scriptural presentation of Jesus,
we will explore how Christian minds over the
centuries have expressed what it means for Jesus to
be both God and man. The course will also reflect
upon the centrality of Jesus to the Christian spiritual
life.
Cost: $40 for the six weeks.

HOW CAN I SHARE MY GOD GIVEN GIFTS AND
TALENTS?
MUSIC adds a wonderful dimension to our liturgies. Our parish is
blessed with four choirs – providing music for the Saturday
6.30pm Mass, Sunday 9.30am Mass, Sunday (2 nd and 4 th ) 6pm
Mass and the Italian Mass.
In this YEAR OF GRACE, we would now like to expand this
ministry and have also received several requests for music for all
the Sunday evening Masses.
We are therefore seeking expressions of interest from musicians
and singers for the 6pm – 1 st and/or 3 rd Sundays of the month.
Could this be God calling you to be a part of this beautiful
ministry?

New Doctors of the Church
Pope Benedict has announced that two new
Doctors of the Church are to be proclaimed in
October this year. They are St John of Avila, a
16th Century Spanish Priest and St Hildegard of
Bingen, a 12th Century German Abbess. They are
honoured for important contributions to theology
and spirituality. John of Avila was an advisor of
Carmelite St Teresa of Avila. Hildegard composed
music which is still heard on radio and wrote
books on prayer and other subjects.
Did You Know? Only 35 (including the two newly
named) people have ever been honoured as a
Doctor of the Church over the last 2000 years—
and only 4 of them are women. If you are
interested, Wikipedia has a very extensive article
on the subject.
