ENHANCING THE MEMBERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Guests at the Clubhouse for the recent wedding and birthday functions have complimented our superb
hospitality and décor on the nights. Similar compliments come through frequently about the condition of
the course, the ease in dealing with the Office and Pro Shop and the quality of our food and our
bar/restaurant service.
Members should be mindful of the quality of all these services and consider further opportunities to use
the bar and restaurant and to recommend the club to friends and associates. Controlled growth in
member numbers and usage of the course, bar and restaurant will definitely flow on to a more engaging
experience for all members.
On Tuesday December 2010, Steve Marshall was endorsed by General committee as House Advisor, so
please feel free to discuss your clubhouse and events ideas with Steve or myself.
COURSE
Brad reports that there will be few disruptions again this month. The greens may be ‘needle tined’ and
dusted with sand, but neither should be greatly noticeable after the corresponding processes of rolling and
watering. Incidentally, needle tining is the process of making many fine puncture marks in the green to
allow gas exchange deep into the soil profile.
One particular concern at present is that some animals have stranded themselves in the lake. We are
actively looking for a solution to this problem and appreciate your ongoing vigilance.
FIXTURES
Captain Tom Jones and his merry band are currently compiling the Fixtures for 2011. Apparently that’s not
unusual. There are still a number of opportunities for members to sponsor weekly competitions, so please
get in touch with Jason at scccgolf@iinet.net.au if you would like to participate.
STAFF CHANGES
Many will be disappointed to hear that Fiona Howes has resigned her position as Administration Manager,
sadly forced to do so by a serious illness in her family. We all wish her strength and good luck in the future.
Fiona has been replaced by Nadene Hingston who comes to us from the WA Government’s Department of
Treasury and Finance - Building Management and Works. Nadene assumes the position of Administration
Manager, while Jason Handy’s role has been expanded to Golf and Membership Coordinator. A very busy
role if new membership applications are any indication! Congratulations to them both.
Have a safe and happy Festive Season,
