THI OGIAN CITY SBNTINiLLBDGfR
Must someone be killed before action is token?
This is a question concerning the students Hi OCHS
in regard to tho situation behind the school.
At the present time, while buses are loading and
unloading, (before' and after school it is a
dangerous position lor any pedestrian. Cars ure
driving through as if they were rncing down a
, dragway, while students attempt to safely cross
Ocean av. Friends and alumni gather on the "no
parking" side of Ocean av, after school to casually
chat with friends. But while doing so they ore
breaking a law and ('nclangcring the lives of many.
In the state of New Jersey, there is a low
stating that while u bus in is the process of
loading or unloading on the side of the school
building, all passing cars must drive with care and
at the rate of 10 miles per hour. This too is in
great violation on Ocean av. between 8 and 8:30
a.m. in the morning and 3 and 3:30 p.m. in the
afternoon.
Something must be done! Although we have
been lucky, yes lucky, in having no casualties
under' these conditions we can't use this to justify
the dilemma. We, the students, are concerned but
the question remains, are- you concerned? How
would you, a taxpayer of Ocean City, feel if ;i
friend or a member of your family was fatally
Injured due to your lack of concern?
This isn't a matter to be played with, it needs
action and it needs it now! This is not a new
problem, it has been plaguing the school for years
but as of yet, the public has done nothing. Don't
you feel it's about time, YOU did something?
