THl ORIGINAL "PAD" — Policemen's eyes bugged as big as saueera when
they discovered this cozy mattress placed on rafters beneath a beachfront
store. Hoping to catch hippies or others .engaged in nefarious hanky panky
they set up a wateh. Their "stake-out" was rewarded when they caught up
with a group of smalk youngsters. The cops closed both their popping eyes
and the case, -- Sentinel Photo
without keeping his left up
defensively.
During the recent primary
campaign Sandman was
forthright in his denunciation
of... Cahill—He—culled -him-
"the little man who once
every four years comes out
of the woodwork" seeking
the gubernatorial nomination.
Sticks and stones break a
man's hene, it is true but,
contrary to the old axiom,
names can hurt their victim.
Sandman hasn't done Cahil]
much good either in his
statements during the
campaign or in his recent
blast that he won't campaign
for the Republican standard
bearer.
It should be stated that
Sandman said the news
stories really misquoted him.
He will campaign for Cahill
at least in the Congressional
district.
Sandman, with so much
political charisma, just can't
seem to avoid such
controversies. They hurt
Sandman more than his
targets, Charlie wiU probably
be seektwg another
Congressional term next
year, br; 'as is rumored, he
may try for the Senate seat
now occupied by Harrison
WUliains. Either way he will
need supporters. He might
even welcome Cahill,
