IMMIGRANT. Dr. Gene Gkimhalvo studio the figurehead from the Sindia
which -brought him to America from Italy in 1897. Making the trip with his
parents and sister, he vaguely recalls it as "29 seasick days". The doctor,
who makes his home in Philadelphia and formerly taught at Temple Medical
School, heard again about the Sindia and the Sindia" Room at the Ocean
City Historical Museum through a KYW television announcement on "People,
Places and Things", The Museum-, exhibit deals with the Sindia's pounding
off Ocean City in December of 1901 and is a very popular area with
museum visitors. Senior Phutu.
Dump truck plunge*
through Vdk planks
It look two heavy duty
tow tnicks to estricati 5 a
massive dump truck which
went through the boardwolk
decking near Brighton pi,
late last Friday evening.
According to Deputy
Dins, ".or of Public Works W.
'Scott Burisan. Robert FT
Seybold planned to use the
truck to remove merchandise
from a store at 390
Boardwalk,
The planking was unable
to withstand the weight of
the truck, and its two rear
wheels plunged toward the
beach below, one of them
lodging against a concrete
pier which supports the
'walk.
Workers from the
Department of Public Works
had to build a path along
which the truck could be
pulled to the level of the
decking. Burtnan said.
He noted that his
department had issued no
permit for the use of a
truck on the boardwalk by
