Five more names were added to the
membership rolls in the 700 Club during
the past week.
Leading the parade of the newcomers
was Ed Wright, who posted a
713 series in the Business Men's
League at Bel-Aire Lanes, while the
Classic provided three additions when
Jack Brbwn fired a 710 to beat Dave
Mclvor by a single pin and Bill Walker
added a 703
The fifth newcomer to the club was
Bob Garrett who paced the Westland
Bowl Classic with a 708.
It was one of the biggest weeks of
the season for the Club.
It was another week of high scoring
at Bel-Aire, aside from the four totals
thai broke the 700 barrier.
Pudgy Ellerhold had a 278 middle
game in a 678 series in the senior
house league and was followed by Ed
Miu and Gil Schornhorst each of
whom fashioned a 638.
•It was another close one in the Businessmen's
circuit. While Wright was
firing his 723 only five pins separated
the next three. Ron Wolofski took the
runnerup position with a 657, one pin
ahead of Bill Etherington and Doug
Hays was four pins back at 652.
In the mixed,league Len Petroff
was high with 654. and fton Enders
Good insulation pays for itself
Good insulation is the best way to save heat in winter
and keep it out in summer. And the better the application,
the moreyou'll save in heating/coolingcosts.
To protect yourself agai'fist rapidly rising fuel
costs, be sure you have a minimum ol R19
insulation in your attic.'You can
save as much as 30% a year on
your heating/cooling casts!*
There caij be little doubt about it
now-*Wonderland Lanes in Livonia is
the highest ^coring house in the entire
area.
Since the start of the season there
has been an unofficial race among
Wonderland Westland Bowl and Bel-
Aire Lanes n Farmington. But slowly
Wonderland forged to the front with
one Series of 800 close to series above
700 and any number of team series
above the 3,000 mark.
Now, while leagues in other places
are fearful of a drop in scoring because
of thfc annual holiday refinishing
of the lanes, Wonderland jumped
off to a b|g lead.
The Classic set about the task of
maintaining a high scoring level last
Thursday night When the last pin fell
By W W. EDGAR
the loop had registered series of 3,231,
3,166 an 3,112; three individual series
above 700 and more than a dozen 600s.
The T.K. Co. team, captained by
John Cox posted the 3,231, while
Farris Bros had the 3,166 and Ron
Fournier's Hiirsty Ducks landed with
with the 3,112.
Fouroier was the big individual gun
of the night as he fashioned a 707 on
games of 226, 367 and 224. One pin behind
came Fred McClain with counts
of 225, 256 and 225, and Dean Shiffman
completed the top trio with an
even 700.
With his 706, McClain continued the
hot streak that earned the Man of the
Year award from the Michigan
Majors Association. He also is fighting
to win top average honors in the
Classic, too.
THERE IS AN old saying that it
takes a lean horse for a long race and
applied to bowling it takes a thin man
to keep going and be ready when
called upoh.
This was the case with U>u Haydu,
the slender gent who has been bowling
with the all-stars for many season.
'
Called upon to fill in as a sub for
the Stroh team in the Michigan Open
at Scfaaefer Lanes, all Lou did was
roll games of 186, 227 and 234 for a
647.
