CAPE FAIR MARINA
BENEFIT TOURNAMENT
PEYTON EDWARDS
BENEFIT BUDDY BASS
TOURNAMENT MARCH
30, 2013. Starts 7:00 a.m. with
weigh-in 3:00 p.m. Entry fee
$70.00 per boat. Payback 60/40
will be one place for every four
boats entered with a maximum
of 10 places paid, plus $10.00
per boat for big bass pot.
I would like to introduce you
to someone very special; this
beautiful 13-year-old is Peyton
Edwards. She is a happy, kind,
loving, and smart little girl. She
has been hindered with Dyslexia,
which causes multiple learning
disabilities that has made it nearly
impossible to have success in the
public school system. She would
be entering 7 th grade at a public
school, but in fact most of her
testing/retained knowledge is
at a 4 th grade level. The public
schools do not have the resources
or funding to get her the help she
needs so she just gets passed
onto the next grade without the
knowledge she desperately needs
and wants. Peyton attended
Rivendale Learning Institute
for 18 months and she has made
great improvements while there.
She now attends The Summit
Prep a private school and place
where Peyton can get the one-onone
attention, oral testing, books
on tape, and our individualized
learning plan she needs to be a
successful student. Peyton is in
a classroom with a very limited
number of students that will
help in her development. Peyton
has a hunger for learning, and
desperately wants to have the
chance to reach her full potential.
She also requires tutoring with
a Dyslexic Specialist. It is very
costly to send her to the private
school and her tutoring fees; but
the return will be well worth
it with the amazing progress
we know she will make in her
reading, writing, and confidence
in herself. We ask for your
support in sending Peyton to
the Summit Prep, it is a taxdeductible
donation to the school
in Peyton’s name. Any donation
is appreciated more than you
know. Help us help Peyton and
give this little girl the chance to
shine! Thank you so much for
any of your generous donations
and prayers for Peyton’s struggle
and future.
The preliminary hearing
for a man who was allegedly
burglarizing a house full of stolen
stuff is scheduled to be held on
March 7th.
Authorities were investigating
a meth lab and the alleged stolen
property when they left a home
in Galena to talk to the suspects;
when they returned, they found
Dan William Baker, 53, of
Galena burglarizing the home.
Drug charges were filed
against Dustin Charles Gan, 26,
and Randy Len Higgins, 37.
They are each jailed on $75,000
bond and due back in court next
month.
Higgins girlfriend, Nicole
Moreen Jennings, 30, who is
facing similar charges, waived
her preliminary hearing and
was released on her own
recognizance.
University of Missouri Extension
will again be offering
Stay Strong, Stay Healthy, a
10-week exercise program
designed for men and women
over 50 starting on February
25, 2013 from 9:30 to 11 AM
at the Cape Fair Community
Building. The first class is 90
minutes long to allow time
for an orientation to the program
and health assessments.
The nine remaining classes
start at 10 AM and last an
hour. Classes will be held on
Mondays, Feb. 25, March
4,11, 18, and 25, and April 1,
8, 15, 22, and 29.
The program, developed
by Tufts University, is designed
to help older adults
and balance. According to
research conducted by Tufts,
bone density, can help reduce
falls, improve arthritis symptoms,
increase flexibility in
older adults and can lead to a
healthier, more active lifestyle.
The program is limited to
20 participants. The cost of
the 10 week program is $25.
Adults in a defined income
bracket may be eligible to receive
a fee reduction/waiver.
