Greetings Readerville:
This fine spring day, I can
almost hear the peepers waking
up. OK – next day woke to snow
on the ground. Spring had been
stolen. We had gone from the
60’s to 28 degrees. I guess that
is ok because we do not want
things blooming out for several
months yet. We are however,
very thankful for moisture of any
kind. especially rain. since we
can’t predict the weather and the
weather-man can’t either – we
will move on.
Birthday
Now we have a hearty wish for
a whole lot of you folks. Travis
Isaacs (my nephew-in-law), my
grandson –in-law Wade Carey,
sisters-in-law Linda Quick and
Barbara Youngblood and Donna
Sparks (need bread lady), my
mean ole daughter-in-law Sherrie
Kuyper, a little fellow named
Riley Isaacs (nana’s pal) and a
special young lady who happens
to be nana’s granddaughter
Kamilla Miller.
Now if that is not a bunch of
rascals to report on – good or
bad. Hope you all had a great
day and many more to come.
May God be with you all. If I
don’t have your name – sorry
– let me know.
Sick Bay
Lori Trueblood is still taking
her chemo. Rosemary and Bill
Youngblood are in need of prayer.
My sister, Edna Ruth Kessinger
took a terrible fall while caring
for me. She has been in extreme
pain. Please keep her in prayer
and deed. Bert told me that her
fellow helper (coach really) of
the youth bowling league needs
our prayers as well. He has
many serious decisions to make
regarding his health. There are
many around us who are sick, in
need of a kind word, a helping
hand, etc. etc. Help where you
can, we can all pray, but someone
once said, we need to put legs on
our prayers. Lets do something!
I was wrong
Today we wait to find out if
Boy Scouts will be Boy Scouts
or Girl-Boy Scouts. Which they
have never been. But, one or the
other, thanks to the president,
same sex marriage, abortion,
lewd pictures not needed to
be shown, foul language on
radio and TV, in homes, on the
streets – just one little example
of the many ways we have let
morals slip out of our fingers and
everything else folks are allowing
to occur. The earth seems angry
with us – perhaps it is one way
God is speaking to us and we
are not listening. Earthquakes,
fires, floods, volcanoes, severe
droughts, what more do we
need?
And, gun control being an
Reeds Spring Jct.
issue- isn’t that what Hitler did,
did we not learn anything from
the past. Does history have
to repeat itself because of our
stupidity? Anger can run deep &
we have lost control of any decent
response to it. All this takes me
back to a time when Madeline
O’Hare had prayer taken out of
the schools. I heard that she was
to speak at the Shrine Mosque
in Springfield, I felt that since I
had written so many derogatory
things about her that I owed it
to my readers to go and hear her
speak. I expected to see a well
dressed lady speaking sixteen
syllable words. What I got
instead was the use of four letter
words coming from a frumpy foul
mouthed woman. She shouted,
ripped pages from the Bible and
when she finished her charade,
she asked if anyone had anything
to say. The audience was quiet,
then she called us yellowbellied
cowards, before I thought I was
on my feet, holding little Mary
Jr. by the hand and walking
towards the stage. Halfway
down my knees turned to putty,
and I thought to myself, “What
am I doing, this lady has argued
and won her case before the US
Supreme Court. But, it was to
late to turn back. There were only
3 people that went down. When
I got before her, I addressed her
as Dr. O’Hare and said we would
like to know why you fight so
hard against God since you say
He does not exist. It would be
like us people who live at Table
Rock Lake trying to rid the lake
of whales, since there are none
what is the point? At which time
she said in a very ugly voice
“I’ll tell you why, you Christians
have come out of your closets
and are invading everything.”
And my reply was, “I’ll tell you
something – you and your hand
full of followers will not dictate
to America where we can pray
or anything else we want to do.”
The audience exploded and she
never got to say anything else.
Then I realized something, had
I known I would be speaking to
her, I would have stayed up all
night, looking up eloquent things
to say, but God used a simple
Reeds Spring graduate and a
whale to make a point. People
who had been there told me later
that they thought God had His
say without the help of anyone.
That was a long time ago, but all
these years I’ve fought for what
I believed, which was America
would stand tall, that she would
not follow whims, or tilt to every
wind that blew. But, today as I
look around and am reminded of
Bible teaching of how evil would
become worse and worse and we
can see & know the truth and
still yield. That what was once
called good would now be called
evil. (It tells us that this would
occur in the Bible – read it folks).
Those years ago, I said not in
America would all these things
happen. “I WAS WRONG!”
We can still change things, but
the window of time may not be
long. We should join together
with the Rutherford Ins, Rev. Bill
Grahams, and others to make our
voice heard. As my mom use to
say, with your little bit and my
little bit we can become a mighty
bit. Yes, 30 years ago when I
made that statement to Miss
O’Hare, “Not in America!” I did
not believe the government would
lose sight of this – “Government
by the people and for the people”
with a conscious thought about
the people and that is why I said
I was wrong.
I am going to let this be my
closing, hoping some of my
concerns for our Holy God,
our country, our children, our
grandchildren, and other family
members, our friends, and our
churches will touch you heart
strings and we will stand together
again and that is my “Food For
Thought.”
