INTRODUCTION<br />

The semicolon and the period are the only characters that <strong>PASCAL</strong><br />

recognizes as delimiters. Spaces, tabs, and carriage-return/line-feed<br />

combinations are separators and cannot appear within an identifier, a<br />

number, or a special symbol. You must use at least one separator<br />

between consecutive identifiers, reserved words, and numbers; but you<br />

can use more than one if you want. You could, for instance, put each<br />

element of a <strong>PASCAL</strong> program on a separate line:<br />
