Jan. 23 (30° above) Fresh snow,
a bit sticky at first but very
fast in afternoon, as · wind
sprang up. A splendid time. -
Sunday Jan. 30 (10° above). A
beautiful day, blue sky and sunshine.
Hills hard but trails soft
and perfect. - Sunday Feb. 6
(3° above). Did not go out because
it had been raining on
Saturday, but was told that conditions·
were fair. - Sunday
·Feb. 13 (10° above) Best snow
conditions yet and best crowd of
years. Beautiful day. - Sunday
F~b. 20 (14° above) Grand
day, tremendous crowd, hard to
get a seat at Camp Fortune. -
Sunday Feb. 27 (28° above) A
misty morning, rain and sleet in
the air. Hard and crusty, fast
on trails. Terrifi'c iSpeed on
hills. Many people cut up. -
Sunday March 5 (5° beiow).
Terrific wind. Fresh snow on
the crust. Much better than last
Sunday. Bright sunshine. No
cas ualties. - Sunday March 12
(17° above). Fresh snow, bright
sunshine, rising temperature.
All right with wax. First sun
bathing crowd. Sunday
March 19 (0°) Bright sunshine
3 inches powdery snow. Nicest
day and best conditions of the
year but small crowd because
snowfall was unknown in town.
A glorious time! - ~Sunday
March 26 (28° a.bove). Corn
snow, which improved all day
long. Perfect slid:ing on Traveler's.
Blue sky, perfect spring
skiing. Hundreds sun bathing.
- Tuesday March 28. Fresh
snow (8 inches) CanY'on fair
but a bit tricky. Very good outing.
- Sunday April 2nd (32°
above) More fresh snow, beautiful
day, blue sky, Canyon
splendid. A wonderful time. -
Good Friday, April 9 (20c
above) Clear blue sky, brilliant
sunshine, marvelous spring conditions.
Hardy ones stripped to
the waist. A glorious day. -
Sunday April 10 (32° above).
Hazy, warm wind, rising temperature,
sun peeping through
clouds. A very good time. -
Sunday April 17 (30° above).
Dull, overcast. 7 inches of snow
during week, but a bit crusty.
Signs of season's end. Cafeteria
moving out. Highland Fling,
one bare spot. Quiet but enjoyable·
time. Missed April 24
which I am told was a glorious
ending to the season.
The season was marked by a
huge attendance at all the lodge~
of the Ottawa Ski Club. On
sPveral occasions, the number
of visitors at Camp Fortune
broke all records, even those of
the Dominion Championship
five y€ars ago. Arrangements
are being made this year to enlarg.e
