Our Nation is now at war. From the President and his
spokesmen come pleas that our people continue to develop
their varied avenues of interest and pleasure. The morale
of the country must be kept high. Our part in the schools
is to work with the children. We are trying to keep this
objective before us.
In our regular classes, in our school
assemblies, in our school parties and in all our contacts
one with another the morale of democracy is foremost in
our minds.
We must not neglect the broadening activities of the
school. Of these Music and Art come first to mind. Hampton
has long made Music a part of its regular course. In
recent years it has placed Art in its curriculum. Each
course is under the supervision of a successful teacher.
The Music work is known by the appearances of the children
in assemblies, P.T.A. meetings, patriotic exercises
and at graduation. While these opportunities to appear
in public are beneficial, it is evident that more occasions
should be presented. In comparison with Athletics, the
public appearances of our Music organizations are very
