I wish to congratulate the boys of our basketball team.
Their record is one of which Hampton is proud. A year
with but one defeat in a complete schedule is a credit to
the school. The clean sportsmanship of the entire team
is commented upon favorably by all of its many followers
both at home and in visited towns. For the second consecutive
year Hampton is represented in the State Tournament
at New Hampshire University. The Junior Varsity
has played some thrilling games this year with the same
sportsmanship that characterized the Varsity. This group
promises fine games in coming seasons. The girls' team
has, this year, met teams of greater experience and larger
establishment. It has returned many victories to its credit.
Congratulations are due them also.
THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT
In the report of Mrs. Coombs, our music supervisor,
appear the following summaries
"In the elementary grades the music work has continued
along the same lines
previously followed. A new
set of books in grade six has added to the enjoyment of
the class and has helped the continuity of the work in
the three upper grades. We are now using the new series
The World of Music' in grades four, five and six.
"At Christmas time the grades joined in presenting a
pageant, 'The Nativity' to the Parent Teachers Association
and the members of the Centre School.
"The Junior High work is now presented in three
weekly half hour periods : one seventh grade, one eighth
grade, and one chorus period including both grades. We
were fortunate this year in having a group enter our
seventh grade from Hampton Falls which is very musical,
and very capable musically. This is especially true
of the boys.
