Medium to Large Scale<br />

Allocation <strong>of</strong> up to 20% <strong>of</strong> protected area in a<br />

fmu (large scale operation) shall be determined<br />

by an identified authoritative<br />

Institution/Researcher/Expert <strong>of</strong> a suspected taxa<br />

(En, Cr, DD species by CITES, IUCN, CI,<br />

Protected by PNG Fauna Act) or Ecosystems<br />

(critical ecosystems) agreed upon by <strong>the</strong> land<br />

owners.<br />

Small Scale<br />

Allocation <strong>of</strong> up to 10% <strong>of</strong> protected area in a<br />

small scale fmu shall be determined by <strong>the</strong><br />

landowners, advised by specifically trained<br />

support organisation staff<br />

O<strong>the</strong>r aspects <strong>of</strong> logging operations should<br />

be also considered, like log transportation<br />

along waterways/marine routes, ie/<br />

Gulf/Western Provinces.<br />
