period. (If your last period started on a<br />

Sunday, write in that date.) Then work<br />

along the top row filling in the dates of<br />

each successive Sunday.<br />

Each box represents a week. Write in the dates week by<br />

week until you get to the date your baby is due.<br />

How much is it?<br />

It depends on the rent you pay, average rents in your<br />

area, the size of your home, your income, savings,<br />

other benefits, your age and your family size. It may<br />

not be the same amount as the rent you are actually<br />

paying. You cannot get Housing Benefit if you have<br />

savings of more than £16,000, and the amount you<br />

get is reduced if you have savings of more than £3000.<br />

How do I claim?<br />

If you’re getting income-based Jobseeker’s<br />

Allowance or Income Support you will get a<br />

Housing Benefit claim pack with your Jobseeker’s<br />

Allowance/Income Support claim form. Otherwise,<br />

get a form from your local council. In Northern<br />

Ireland if you are a tenant, get claim form HB1 from<br />

your Northern Ireland Housing Executive district<br />

office, or if you are an owner occupier get claim<br />

form F1 from the Rate Collection <strong>Agency</strong> (RCA),<br />

Who gets it?<br />

If you’ve got a mortgage and you’re on incomebased<br />

Jobseeker’s Allowance or Income Support,<br />

you may be able to get help with your interest<br />

payments, although t<strong>here</strong> is usually a waiting period<br />

during which you won’t get any help.<br />

How much is it?<br />

You can only get help with interest payments (not<br />

repayments of capital or contributions to a linked<br />

PEP, endowment or insurance policy) and the<br />
