• ~ 30% of fatal collisions

• Leading cause of fatalities
• ~ 20% people injured in traffic collisions due
to drunk driving
3. Fatigue
• 1 in 5 Canadian drivers have nodded
off/fallen asleep while driving
• Contributors include:
• Work shifts exceeding 14-16 hours
• Over 19 hours of continuous wakefulness
• Driving between the hours of 12 - 6:00 am
