Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award will recognize Hoffman Estates graduates for
their achievements and contributions and provide our students with role models for
exceptional accomplishments.
Our high school is rich in tradition, and it is important that our students be exposed
to some of the examples from graduates who have made a difference.
This recognition program is designed to illustrate to our students the importance of
setting educational and career goals.
Hoffman Estates High School would like to honor alumni who have earned
recognition for their achievements and contributions in their field of endeavor.
Recognition will be given to those who have exhibited outstanding leadership,
character, and service.
Selection will be based on the following criteria:
• Graduated from Hoffman Estates High School ten years or more years ago.
• Demonstrates a high level of achievement in his/her field and makes significant
contributions to that field.
• Exhibits leadership, character, and service at work, in the community, or in civic
organizations.
The selection committee consisting of faculty, administration, and non-certified
staff will review all applications.
The following procedure will be followed:
Parents, staff, retired staff, other HEHS graduates, and all interested parties will be
asked for nominations.
Self-nominations are welcome. All nominations will be kept on file and referred to
and updated for consideration in subsequent years. Nominations for 2013 will be
accepted until February 25, 2013. At that time the selection committee will meet and
review all nominations.
Semi-finalists will be selected and they will be sent a questionnaire to acquire
further information and to determine if they could attend the induction ceremony
the evening of the Honors Convocation in late May.
Semi-finalist alumni questionnaires are due back by March 29, 2013. By April 9, 2013
the committee will select an alumnus to receive this recognition.
The award winner will speak briefly during the convocation.
Details will follow upon their selection.
A bronze plaque will be displayed for the selected distinguished alumni that will
include a picture and a short description of their achievements.
