Attendees were welcomed to the

on Sunday 27th March, 2011.Donna

Officer Brad Fullarton addressed
the residents about local events of
concern. Donna informed us about
the Eggersdorf Road upgrade and
approved Coles development and
planned North Ormeau Railway
Station. Involvement in your local
Neighbourhood Watch is an easy
method to meet and get to know
your neighbours. We can support each other by being vigilant
and aware of any matters of concern around our homes and in

NO SKATE PARK IN JACOBS RIDGE
Donna Gates recently addressed the issue of a potential Skate
Park at Pincally Park raised in the February NHW meeting.
Letters were sent to nearby neighbours of Pincally Park for
feedback on 3 small ramps and 4 exercise stations with a
walkway. The response was significantly opposed to the skate
ramp, so no further action will be taken on this matter. There is
still the suggestion for exercise stations which could be spread
throughout the Estate using the already popular and installed
pathways to link the stations together.

Police Update: There has been a sharp increase in motor vehicle
break-ins and theft of valuables from vehicles in the Jacobs
Ridge Estate. Police believe the offenders are adolescents. Visible
wallets, handbags, mobile phones, lap top computers, i-pods,
money and satellite navigation systems left in vehicles overnight
are easy targets for thefts and this is why they keep returning.
What Can you do to stop your vehicle being broken into at night?
• Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
• Park in a well lit area.
• Park your vehicle in your garage or an enclosed yard.
• If you have to park your vehicle in an open driveway, park near motion
activated security lights.
• Fit an alarm system to your vehicle.
• Cover your vehicle with a heavy duty tarpaulin and attach noisy items such
as tin cans that will alert you and scare off the thief.
• Trim back any foliage near to where your vehicle is parked preventing
offenders from having a place to hide.

• Park your work vehicle in the garage. If space is an issue, consider leaving
your family car in the driveway or move your work tools from your vehicle
to a secure place in your home.
• Don’t forget to engrave your tools. Marking your property makes
ownership clear and deters theft. It also helps police to identify and return
your belongings to the rightful owner.
