Graffiti crime epidemic
GRAFFITI crime was out of control because of Bligh Labor‟s failure to take the crime seriously, the
State Opposition said today.
Shadow Minister for Police John-Paul Langbroek said Police taskforce TAG had laid more than 9449
charges against 213 offenders since October 2008, but offenders were rarely held to account and
made to clean up their mess.
“The community is sick and tired of graffiti and sick and tired of offenders not being held responsible
for their crimes,” Mr Langbroek said.
“Graffiti crime is out of control and police resources are being stretched to the limit.
“While Police have done a great job catching these criminals who deface and destroy neighbourhoods,
the offenders too often get a slap on wrist and rush back out to do it all over again.
“Pandering to graffiti criminals and making excuses must stop.
“All graffiti offenders must repay society for the damage they‟ve done.
“How long do Queenslanders have to wait for Labor to get serious about stopping graffiti crime and
making offenders repay for their crimes?
“Only a „CanDo‟ LNP team will ensure graffiti vandals are held accountable for their crimes.”
