• Radioactive Waste Management principles apply<br />
equally <strong>to</strong> his<strong>to</strong>rical wastes as <strong>to</strong> any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
radioactive wastes.<br />
• All of <strong>the</strong> his<strong>to</strong>rical waste has an identified owner who<br />
has <strong>to</strong> develop <strong>the</strong> waste management strategy and<br />
pay.<br />
• It is expected that <strong>the</strong> responsibility for much of <strong>the</strong><br />
nuclear legacy will be transferred <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Nuclear<br />
Decommissioning Authority(NDA), who will be<br />
charged with decommissioning it in accordance with<br />
Government policy.<br />
