DISCHARGE AUTHORISATIONS
How are limits set?
• Limits for discharges to air and water are specified in
certificates of Authorisation which set out:
– the routes which the operator is permitted to use
to discharge radioactive wastes
– the numerical limit for each radionuclide (or group)
– the time period for which the limit applies.
