224 Huntley - Land Usage (Q) To provide for the elimination of nonconforming uses of land, buildings and structures which are adversely affecting the character and value of desirable development in the district. (R) To define and limit the powers and duties of the administrative officers and bodies as provided therein. (S) To provide for separation of pedestrian and vehicular movement and provide for bicycle paths as follows: To promote good planning with the separation of pedestrian and vehicular movements, providing sensitive solutions to difficult site problems where soils, slopes, woodlands or wetlands place constraints on development, and by providing convenient recreational facilities and open spaces to enrich the lifestyle of the residents of the community. (T) To prevent the creation or establishment of airport hazards and avoid unnecessary airport impact, the village may establish such zoning regulations for such airport hazard and impact areas subject to the provisions of the Illinois Aeronautics Act, as heretofore and hereafter amended. Such regulations may divide the airport hazard and impact areas into special zoning districts and specify the land uses permitted and regulate and restrict heights to all structures and trees that may be erected or allowed to grow. (Ord., passed 7-17-89) § 156.003 DEFINITIONS. For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. Words used in the present tense shall include the future; words used in the singular number shall include the plural number; and the plural, the singular; and the word "lot" shall include the word "plot"; and the word "shall" is mandatory and not directory; and the words zone, district, or zoning district may be used interchangeably. ACCESSORY BUILDING AND STRUCTURE. A building or other structure located on a lot with a principal use housing an accessory use. Where a substantial part of the wall of an accessory building is part of the wall of the main building or where an accessory building is attached to the main building in a substantial manner as by a roof, such accessory building shall be counted as part of the main building and shall conform to all regulations applicable thereto. Wood decks or platforms, open to the sky, even if attached to the main building, are accessory structures.
