No Progress to Report On Negotiations L.U. 77, SEATfLE. WASH.-Our negotia· tions have opened for 1911. Seven meetings have been held with Seatlle City Light and there is no progress to report. The last negotiations with City Light required a three,.month strike \0 rt."3ch an acceptable contract. They apparently feci that this cxp!:ricnce of three months on the pickel line has oralen the spirit of our membership and thai we wouldn', have the guts [0 go OUt ag~in so [hey have submitted requests 10 U5 that can'l possibly be accepted. We don', want to strike, but we will if l'Ie have \0. Central Washington P UDs and Washing· ton Public Power Su pply System arc also in negotiations. Things are going 10 be tough in thai area. too. It is apparent thai all the utilities have gOllen together and arc going to ullcmpt to hold any increase below an acccptable levcL A major item with W]'I'SS will be over \\3geS and conditions of personnel at the nuclea r generating plants tluring shake·down and break·in oJlCrations. Construction is holding up well for this late in the )'car. We still have men on the books but not as many as we usually do :>t this lime. A lot of this work can be allributed to the mild weather we have been enjoying. Construction for next )car looks like it will be prelly good too.
