With the5e new contracts comes the possibility
of a large number of our members
facing some undesirable circumstances, such
as reduction in benefits. The drastic cut in
wages sulTcred by SOffi e members in the
pa~l, has been ctiminated due to the amendment
to the Service Contract Act.
Our organizing drives continue to be successful.
We won the ctection 10 represent
the RCA ShiM' Engineers, hctd in Novem_
ber. The additiOn of thc group wilJ greatly
ImprO\'e our barl:aining position on the
ships' contra cIs.
A th ree-year contract ~ith Vista Aorida
Telephone al Walt Disney World has been
ratified. The approximate increases are 8 ..5
percent the first year, 8.3 percent the second
year, and 7 ..5 pcr!.:entlhe third year. In addition
to this, the company will also pay the
7 percent employee eontribtUion to the pcn­
~io n plan in the third year, The negotiations

in the organizing of the local 14 years ago,
and is one of the charier members. She
served the local as a department stewa rd
and was a member of the Exccutive BOard
for 14 },ears, of which she was chair lady
for fh'e consecutive terms.
She scr\'cd on every Negotiating Committee
and ~as a local representative to many
of [he Progress Meetings and comcntions.
She was always ready to serve when called
llpon and did a splendid job in represenlinl:
the local and in promoting the labor move·
ment within [he local.
Mary is an avid collector of mugs nnd
was pre$Cnted with a pewttr mug engrnved
with her mime and years of !>Crvice to add
to her collection. Her friends and onker
also ga\'e her a corsage and several olher
gifts in addition to the mug.

started with a one-sided softbnll game nnd
ended in a henrty Ilinch.
The softball game was plnyed bClween
Westinghouse employees who rnn past their
opponents, t h~ Genernl Cable lenm, with the
finnl score coming to 16 to 2. At noon
members were treated to a delightful meal.
The m:lin course being deep-pit barbecued
beef. accomp3nied b}' chilli beans. salad,
bread, soft drinks, and beer. After lunch
had settled, horseshoes, three-legged races,
and bingo rounded out the day. The children
were treated to the amllsement tenter
located in the park.
By .5:00 p.m. the beer kep were empty.
the food .... a~ gone. and everyone was ready
for a good shower and nap. All members
wish to thank the Picnic Committee for a
wonderful day of fun. Job \O,ell done, committee.
