Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) belongs to a group of polymers containing a silicon –
oxygen skeleton with methyl groups on the silicon atom (see molecular structure). Major
application for PDMS is as lubricant oils and as plasticiser in silicon jointing compounds in
the construction industry.
In this paper we present results of measurements
of the magnetic relaxation time T 1 in the frequency
domain, results of DSC and rheology measurements.
T 1 1 H NMR relaxation dispersion of the PDMS has
been measured by Fast Field Cycling technique in
the Larmor frequency range from 10 kHz up to 12
MHz. Results of dispersion measurements indicate
the T 1 dependence according to Rouse model [1,2].
