“ The culture <strong>of</strong> learning is rapidly changing at the university. >>> Academic<br />
disciplines continue to provide high-quality education at IIT, as they have <strong>for</strong> the<br />
last 110 years. But something new has been added: interpr<strong>of</strong>essionalism. >>><br />
Beginning with the first IPROs <strong>of</strong>fered in 1996, the university has staked its<br />
<strong>future</strong> on <strong>of</strong>fering interpr<strong>of</strong>essional, cross-disciplinary experiences that prepare<br />
<strong>our</strong> graduates <strong>for</strong> working on teams alongside different kinds <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.<br />
This is the way global organizations conduct their affairs. IPROs are required<br />
<strong>of</strong> all underclassmen and a number <strong>of</strong> graduate students participate in them with<br />
enthusiasm. >>> To enc<strong>our</strong>age students to broaden their experiences, we are<br />
launching an optional co-curricular Pathways Program <strong>for</strong> all undergraduates,<br />
beginning with a freshman focus on the interwoven themes <strong>of</strong> exploration,<br />
discovery, invention and creativity. For other students, we will develop pathways<br />
in such areas as leadership, undergraduate research, service learning and<br />
