575 Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm I (1688-1713-1740), the<br />

Salzburg Emigrants, Silver Box Medal, undated<br />

and unsigned [1732], containing a complete set of<br />

17 hand-painted roundels, explaining the history;<br />

the medal, Christ watches over an emigrant family<br />

leaving their country, legend above, “Gehe aus Deinem<br />

Vatterland”, rev Emperor standing right, with two<br />

officials, greets the emigrants, legend above, “Die<br />

König follen Dei / ne Pfleger feyn. Efaie 49”, the interior<br />

lid with a map of the Salzburg area, the base with a<br />

map of “Hertzogth” and “Lithauen”, 44.5mm (Karl<br />

Roll, Die Schaumünzen auf die Salzburger Emigration<br />

[1925], IV / XIII). Medal and contents extremely fine, the<br />

roundels retaining their original rich colour. £400-600<br />

The roundels have a single piece of fruit or flower on the<br />

reverse-sides and are linked in a ‘tree’ formation of a group of<br />

five and three groups of four, the titles are as follows:-; 1 – “Aus<br />

dem Dienst=Hause”; 2 – “Ich habe noch andere Schraffe”; 3 –<br />

“Der Herr hat semen Engeln befohl. über”; 4 – “ Offenbahrgeng<br />

der Warheit”; 5 – “Trinket alle darau”; 6 – “Versiglung der<br />

Warheit”; 7 – “Edict wider die Lutheraner. anno 1588”; 8 –<br />

“Vatter und Mutter verlassen mich”; 9 – “Zehle meine Flucht”;<br />

10- “ Suchetin der Schrifft”; 11 – “Verbander brand im Herzen”;<br />

12 – “Gedencket unserer bande”; 13 – “Zeige uns deine Weige”;<br />

14 – “Wir Segnen eüch im Namen das Herrn”; 15 – Du has Wart<br />

des euzgen Lebens”; 16 – “eyd bereit zur Ver=antworbarg”; 17<br />

– Wielieblich sind der ne Wohnungngen”.<br />
