581 Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (1872-
1938), Bronze Portrait Medal, 1912, uniformed
bust left, wearing medals, rev date, 18-19 October,
within wreath, 57mm. Very fine. £70-90
The date implies the medal was for the Balkan Wars, the Treaty
of Lausanne was signed on 18 October and the Balkan League
invaded Western Turkey on the 19 October. Prince Nicholas
helped to organise the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens and
served as president of the Sub-Committee for Shooting.
577 England Gives a Constitution to the Ionian
Islands, Copper Medal, 1817, by A J Depaulis,
from Mudie’s National Series, Britannia seated
left, writes on tablets, statue of Neptune behind,
rev figures representing the seven islands, around
British flag, 41mm (BHM 958 [1057]; Eimer 1094;
SCA 5, 346). Dark tone and has once been lacquered,
good very fine. £120-150

Bronze Medal, 1889, by L Bottée, awarded to Greece
for Education – Le Sylloge de Parnasse, Marianne
presents worker with wreath, exhibition buildings
below with Eiffel Tower, rev Fame blows trumpet
by bust of Marianne, LE SYLLOGE DU PARNASSE,
63mm. Very fine, one time cleaned. £70-90

Copper Medal, undated (c.1865-1870), by J J Barre,
coin-like bare head left, rev three wreath above
the prow of an ancient galley, 36mm (MH 154);

Second very fine, the first with dull surface and scratched

Dodecanese, Brigadier AS Parker, delivered the Administration
to Admiral Ioannides on the 31 March 1947.
