581 Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (1872-<br />

1938), Bronze Portrait Medal, 1912, uniformed<br />

bust left, wearing medals, rev date, 18-19 October,<br />

within wreath, 57mm. Very fine. £70-90<br />

The date implies the medal was for the Balkan Wars, the Treaty<br />

of Lausanne was signed on 18 October and the Balkan League<br />

invaded Western Turkey on the 19 October. Prince Nicholas<br />

helped to organise the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens and<br />

served as president of the Sub-Committee for Shooting.<br />

Islands, Copper Medal, 1817, by A J Depaulis,<br />

from Mudie’s National Series, Britannia seated<br />

left, writes on tablets, statue of Neptune behind,<br />

rev figures representing the seven islands, around<br />

British flag, 41mm (BHM 958 [1057]; Eimer 1094;<br />

SCA 5, 346). Dark tone and has once been lacquered,<br />

Second very fine, the first with dull surface and scratched<br />

Dodecanese, Brigadier AS Parker, delivered the Administration<br />

to Admiral Ioannides on the 31 March 1947.<br />
