Friday 24 th May: End of Term 5. School finishes at 3:15pm.
Monday 3 rd June: Children return to school for Term 6.
Monday 3rd June: Deadline for submitting photograph orders.
Thursday 6th June: Classes 10 & 11 eye screening by the Orthoptic Department at Guy’s and
St Thomas.’ Opt out forms have been sent home with the children in their book bags.
Monday 10 th to Friday 14 th June: Year 6 School Journey.
Saturday 22nd June: Brixton Windmill Festival & Parade—more information overleaf.
Wednesday 26th June: School Photographer: class photographs.
Thursday 27th June, Parents’ Information Meeting for September 2013, Infant Hall:
Reception at 9:15am and Nursery at 10:15am.
Friday 28th June: School Sports Day (Reception to Year 6) at Brockwell Park.
Saturday 29th June: French Club Trip to Boulogne with Madame Sally.
Tuesday 2nd July: Nursery Sports Day at school.
Saturday 13th July 11:30am-2:00pm: PTA Summer Fair.
Monday 22 nd July: End of Term 6 for Nursery children only.
Tuesday 23 rd July: End of Term 6. School finishes at 2:00pm.
Wednesday 24 th July: Staff INSET Day.
Wednesday 4th September: Staff INSET Day
Thursday 5th September: Children return to school (Years 1-6). Nursery and Reception
children start a little later.

PARENTS’ QUESTIONNAIRE 2013
Attached to the back of this week’s newsletter is the 2013 Sudbourne Parents’ Questionnaire. The
questionnaire is your chance to let us know what you think about Sudbourne and how you think we
can develop the school...what we do well and what you think we could do better.
The deadline for completion is Friday 7 th June. Every child is different, please take time to fill out
one questionnaire per child.

Please remember that if you place your order online at: www.sbsdigitalonline.co.uk it will be
delivered to your home address.
If you choose to return your order to the School Office, please do so by 3rd June 2013, as we will
be unable to accept any orders after this date. If you have any queries regarding photograph ordering,
please call Stanley Baker Studios on 01255 242 200.
SCHOOL GATEWAY SMARTPHONE APP
Thank you very much if you’ve already installed our free School Gateway smartphone app. The money
we save on text messaging can then be used to fund other school activities. It is easy to install and
won’t cost you a penny. Just follow these 3 simple steps:
Step 1 - Download the ‘School Gateway’ app from Google Play or the Apple App Store
If you haven't used School Gateway before, please:
Step 2 - Select the ‘I’m a new user’ option, enter your email and mobile number – your PIN number
will then be sent to your phone
If you have used School Gateway before, please:
Step 3 - Enter your PIN and login (as usual)
That’s it - you will now receive messages from us through the smartphone app. Your phone will buzz/
ring just like when a text message arrives. So you will:
- receive instant notification of messages
- receive messages even when there is no mobile signal – provided you’re connected to Wi -Fi
- not be charged for sending replies back to the school
- be able to store and receive messages all in one place
If your mobile phone isn’t able to download the app, we will continue to send messages via text
instead.
MATHS IN ART WEEK – 3 RD -7 TH JUNE 2013!
We are really excited about our first ever Maths in Art Week. We will be taking part in exciting, creative
outdoor maths activities which will include taking part in fun, drama workshops and dressing up as our
favourite number or sum. There is a 50p donation and proceeds go towards outdoor maths equipment. Some
lucky classes will be going to the V&A and the National Gallery!
MATHLETICS HAS ARRIVED!
Mathletics is an exciting online maths programme for Years 1 to 6 that can be used in school and at home! The
children have already received their personal login. Why not have a go at earning yourself a bronze or silver
certificate in the half term? Can you get you name on the leader board? Play with children from
Sudbourne or from across the globe! Good Luck!

THE BRIXTON WINDMILL FESTIVAL AND PARADE
SATURDAY 22ND JUNE
This year Sudbourne has been invited to perform as part of the ‘Cakes Puddings and Pies’ Brixton
Windmill Parade 2013. This is one of the highlights in the Brixton calendar and since we have been
working so closely with the Brixton Windmill, it is something very relevant to the ‘Use Your Loaf’
unit of work the children will be revisiting next term. It is also a chance to view the amazing murals
our pupils helped design and create as part of their workshops earlier in the year.
We would like as many families to come and support us all for this exciting event. This year the
parade will be launching a brand new product -The Windmill Loaf, made by our wonderful link baker,
Richard, from the Old Post Office Bakery.
We have been given a flat bed truck which we hope to secure our Steel Pans to so that the children
can play them safely as we travel up the hill. Accompanying them will be a collection of Sudbourne
Parade Dancers, who will be dressed in beautiful cake designs, thanks to our artistic Librarian, Dodo.
As it is a Saturday we will be heavily reliant on parental support and so would love to see if you could
lend a hand with any of the following:
• A crew of strong parents to move the steel pans on and off the truck at the beginning and end of
the event – the more we have the easier it will be.
• Donations of bunting, balloons, ribbon etc. to decorate the truck with.

It promises to be an amazing day out for the whole family – with lots of exciting stalls, food
and music, so do put it in the diary. Join us for the parade and start praying for lots of
sunshine!
