SONOMA VALLEY | WINE COUNTRY THIS WEEK Diverse Lineup at Meadowcroft’s Songwriters in Sonoma The Meadowcroft Wines’ Songwriters in Sonoma music series continues in March with songs and music from Dustin Heald, Rich Little and Fred McCarty, three very diverse singer-songwriters. The show, set for Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in the Meadowcroft Wines tasting room at 23574 Arnold Drive/Highway 121 in the CornerStone Sonoma community is produced by Meadowcroft Wines and sponsored by the Sonoma-based website MusicNomad.com. The monthly music show is booked and hosted by Gerard Serafini, owner of Sonoma Valley Music store who also provides the sound and lighting for the shows. Tickets are $10 per person and available by calling the tasting room at (707) 934-4090 or at www.meadowcroftwines.com. In addition to the music and a full menu of wine selections, cheese plates with charcuterie are available for purchase as well as a selection from Chef Darby’s Hot Pot. February’s Louisiana Jambalaya was a sell-out! An eclectic singer-songwriter from the North Bay, Dustin Heald has been writing songs and performing in bands for nearly 20 years. Dustin recently had success impersonating artist Daniel Ash in a living tribute to the band Love & Rockets. This tribute caught the eye (and ear) of original member of L&R (and Bauhaus) David J. Haskins, who enlisted Dustin’s guitar and vocal talents for his live shows. Additionally, he is an accomplished sculptor, mask maker and special makeup effects artist working films such as Avatar and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Rich Little has been putting words to music and performing since the 1970s. Being a multi-instrumentalist has helped with diversity in songwriting styles. The Chapman Stick, electric and acoustic guitars are his main focus with writing. Rich regularly holds music rehearsals and recording sessions at his Little Vineyards recording studio in Glen Ellen. Besides his solo performances, Rich stays busy with the Rich Little Band, a top rated dance band, the Neverland Live Band, a techno fusion rock band, and Custer’s Last Stand Band, a country-rock ensemble. Fred McCarty is well versed in jazz, classical, rock, bluegrass and country music. He studied jazz with Chuck Mangione, classical guitar with Stanley Watson, and is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. He has toured coast to coast playing solo, duo and as a band member and front man. He has appeared with Boz Scaggs, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, Stevie Nicks and many others. He has recorded several CD’s including The Contender, a self-produced country disc that he recorded in Nashville. Meadowcroft Family of Wines includes the Meadowcroft, Thomas Henry and Foyt Family labels. The tasting room is located within the Cornerstone Sonoma (www.cornerstonesonoma.com) complex that features 24 world class gardens, art galleries and cutting edge design shops all set among acres of vineyards. Meadowcroft Family of Wines is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The venue is available for private parties, private tastings, wine dinners and other events.
