1.1.2.42. 'Fire-stop'<br />

1.1.2.43. 'Flight'<br />

Means a draught tight barrier or seal constructed of non-combustible<br />

material and placed within or between <strong>building</strong>, elements in shafts, voids<br />

and other concealed spaces to retard the spread of flame, heat or smoke;<br />

Means a series of consecutive stairs that go from one level of a <strong>building</strong><br />

to another;<br />

1.1.2.44. 'Floor area'<br />

1.1.2.45. 'Flue'<br />

Means the net area measured on a plan enclosed within the internal<br />

surfaces of external walls without finishes;<br />

Means a passage for conveying the discharge of a heat generating<br />

appliance to the external air;<br />

1.1.2.46. 'Flue pipe'<br />

Means a pipe that forms a flue, but does not include a pipe built as a<br />

lining to a chimney;<br />

1.1.2.47. 'Foul water'<br />

Means soiled water or wastewater,<br />

1.1.2.48. 'Foundation'<br />

Means the members of a structure, the function of which is to distribute<br />

loads directly to the ground or that part of a <strong>building</strong>, which is in direct<br />

contact with and is intended to transmit loads to the ground;<br />

1.1.2.49. 'Foundation wall'<br />

Means that portion of a wall between the foundation and the lowest floor<br />

above the foundation;<br />

1.1.2.50. 'Garage'<br />

Means an enclosed area, which is used or intended to be used for the<br />

parking, storing, servicing or repairing of motor vehicles;<br />

1.1.2.51. 'Habitable room'<br />

Means a room constructed or adapted to be used as a living or sleeping<br />

room or as a place for habitual employment of any person;<br />

1.1.2.52. 'Hoarding'<br />

Means a temporary fence made of lightweight, approved material erected<br />

around a <strong>building</strong> site;<br />
