would be sitting quietly, enjoying a book of nature poems
or simply meditating with the rustle of the wind and the
bubbling of the aqua garden (with its heated hydromassage
WaterWalls). However, guests who take that route
would be missing out on an unbelievable array of fitness,
wellness, beauty, and recreational activities.
For example, there are workshops and classes on
drawing and painting, yoga, Pilates, aqua toning, Qi Gong,
kickboxing and many more. The more adventurous might
prefer more challenging programs like “Boot Camp,”
“Hydro Challenge,” and “Power Walk.” Three separate
MindBody Studios offer a relaxing space for aerobic and
meditative workouts for body and soul, respectively, while
at the other end of the spectrum, fabulous tennis courts
and a complete CardioWeight studio will get the heart
pumping and the healthy sweat flowing.
Excursions off the grounds provide opportunities to
explore the 600-acre Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary,
Tusten Mountain, Lake Wallenpaupack, and other
amazing sites. Wildlife watchers may be able to spot rare
and unusual creatures, even including bald eagles, cavorting
in these unspoiled settings.
As John and Ginny envisioned, everything at The
Lodge is centered around the theme of “Awakening.” Of
course, those who define that as doing simple, quiet meditations
(at The Lodge or on the Nature Trail) or relaxing by
the lake with a book are free to follow that muse, too.
Not surprisingly, The Lodge has been honored many times for its unique vision and superb facilities. Some of its
accolades include being named among the “100 Best Spas of the World” by Insiders’ Guide, the “Top 15 Destination
Spas, 2007” by Travel + Leisure, the “Top 10 Spas in the World” by 2008 TripAdvisor.com, and the “10 Most Luxurious
Spas in the US” by Forbes.com. Its gastronomic delights have also been singled out, as it received the “Best for Cuisine”
and “Best for Cooking Classes” 2007 Spa Finder Readers’ Choice Awards.
Those who would like to experience the wonders The Lodge has to offer may choose from two packages. The
Intro to Spa Plan is, as the name suggests, comparatively modest in scope. It includes three meals a day plus non-alcoholic
beverages, cooking and other types of classes, group activities, and use of all spa and fitness facilities. The
Complete Spa Plan is designed for guests who are familiar with or especially enthusiastic about spa treatments, as it
includes one spa treatment for each night spent at The Lodge.
Best of all, both packages provide a Personal Spa Concierge to help ensure that the guest’s every desire and expectation
is met to the fullest.
Special Promotions are also available, which offer discounted rates during certain times of the year. (Prices are
subject to change, so contact The Lodge for accurate rate information.) “Endless Summer” runs from August 1 through
October 31, encompassing the mild days of late summer as well as the gorgeous foliage season. The “Spa Fanatics
Group Getaway” allows a party of eight or more (single-occupancy) to enjoy the complete retreat together. There is
also a corporate version of this called the “Executive Meeting Package.” A sweet “Mother-Daughter Package” offers
