further notice. It is the responsibility of the student<br />

to establish ‘good cause’ to the satisfaction of the<br />

Committee.<br />

iv. The Committee shall require a representative of<br />

the relevant School to appear be<strong>for</strong>e it to provide<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation relating to the structure of the course,<br />

student per<strong>for</strong>mance and the basis on which the<br />

decision of the Board of Examiners was taken. The<br />

student and the School representative shall be present<br />

while the other presents evidence. If the School<br />

representative is unable to attend, the Committee may<br />

proceed in his or her absence.<br />

v. Only members of the Committee and of the secretariat<br />

shall be present while the CSAC makes its decisions.<br />

vi. An individual record of each decision will be taken and<br />

retained.<br />

vii. The decision shall be confirmed in writing by letter and<br />

email to the student, with reasons, within five working<br />

days of the decision having been taken. The student<br />

shall be in<strong>for</strong>med that there is no further internal right<br />

of appeal against the decision of the CSAC. The letter<br />

shall in<strong>for</strong>m the student of the right to petition the<br />

Board of Visitors.<br />

1.4.14 <strong>Students</strong> who have been required to withdraw from<br />

the <strong>University</strong> must apply to the <strong>University</strong>’s Admissions and<br />

Access Service should they subsequently wish to re-register,<br />

and must in<strong>for</strong>m the <strong>University</strong> of their previous dealings<br />

with the CSAC. Failure to disclose a previous requirement<br />

to withdraw may lead to the withdrawal of any offer of<br />

admission or dismissal from the <strong>University</strong>. <strong>Students</strong> who<br />

have been required to withdraw from the <strong>University</strong> must<br />

spend at least two semesters away from the <strong>University</strong> be<strong>for</strong>e<br />

they can be re-admitted. In all cases a School has the right<br />

to refuse a student permission to re-register.<br />

1.4.15 There is no further internal appeal against a decision<br />

of the CSAC.<br />

1.4.16 Guidelines <strong>for</strong> petition to the Board of Visitors are<br />

outlined in Section XIII, Further In<strong>for</strong>mation.
