Oftentimes, <strong>the</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> Administrator is usually<br />
called upon to plan, host or assist with special events and/or<br />
functions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong>. During Fiscal Year <strong>2010</strong>, <strong>the</strong> following<br />
<strong>Court</strong> affiliated events were held: <strong>the</strong> Investiture <strong>of</strong> Judge Harold<br />
W. L. Willocks, in <strong>the</strong> District <strong>of</strong> St. Croix and Judge Adam G.<br />
Christian in <strong>the</strong> District <strong>of</strong> St. Thomas-St. John; <strong>the</strong> 16th <strong>Annual</strong><br />
High School Appellate Moot <strong>Court</strong> Competition, which was held<br />
in <strong>the</strong> District <strong>of</strong> St. Croix this year; <strong>the</strong> Employee Health Fair;<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> Employee Appreciation Day and Luncheon, <strong>Annual</strong><br />
Employee Christmas Awards and Recognition Gala.<br />
THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK<br />
OF THE COURT<br />
The Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Clerk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> is responsible for <strong>the</strong> daily<br />
functions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Operational Division <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> which is<br />
comprised <strong>of</strong> Civil and Small Claims, Conciliation, Criminal,<br />
Family, Traffic, and Probate Divisions. Additionally, <strong>the</strong> Clerk<br />
oversees <strong>the</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Marshal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Superior <strong>Court</strong>, <strong>the</strong><br />
Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cashier, <strong>Court</strong> <strong>Report</strong>ing Division and <strong>the</strong> Jury Trial<br />
Division. The Clerk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> is designated as <strong>the</strong> custodian <strong>of</strong><br />
records for all judicial matters brought before <strong>the</strong> Superior <strong>Court</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Virgin</strong> <strong>Islands</strong>.<br />
The Clerk’s Office is directly responsible for receiving and<br />
processing court documents, attending and assisting in all court<br />
proceedings, maintaining <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong>’s files and entering <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Court</strong>’s orders, judgments and decrees. Additionally, <strong>the</strong> Clerk’s<br />
Office collects and disburses money for court fees, fines, court<br />
costs, judgments and restitution at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong>’s direction. The<br />
Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Clerk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> provides enhanced services to<br />
all persons conducting business with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong> by promoting <strong>the</strong><br />
automation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Court</strong>’s business procedures and practices, and<br />
endorsing <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>mes <strong>of</strong> efficiency and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism.<br />
