<strong>Kitsap</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Ordinance</strong> <strong>2008A</strong>-<strong>01</strong>, Amended June 7, 2<strong>01</strong>1<br />
Onsite Sewage System and General Sewage Sanitation Regulations<br />
a) All designed and specified components shall conform to the maintenance<br />
and accessibility requirements in Section 12. and “Onsite Sewage Systems<br />
Use, Monitoring, and Maintenance Field Manual” in Appendix B.<br />
b) The <strong>Health</strong> Officer may reject the use <strong>of</strong> registered proprietary products<br />
or public domain technologies when there are insufficient monitoring and<br />
maintenance specialists available (a minimum <strong>of</strong> two (2) separate<br />
individuals certified as a monitoring and maintenance specialist in good<br />
standing) to service such products or technologies, or when there is<br />
available information related to the maintenance, service, performance,<br />
warranty, and/or manufacturer support <strong>of</strong> a treatment component that<br />
suggests a potential threat to public health by the continued use <strong>of</strong> such<br />
product or technology.<br />
c) Single Family Residences – New or Modified:<br />
(1) Shall have a minimum design capacity <strong>of</strong> 240 gallons per day;<br />
(2) Shall have a minimum design capacity <strong>of</strong> 120 gallons per bedroom<br />
per day when more than two (2) bedrooms are proposed;<br />
(3) May have design capacity <strong>of</strong> more than 120 gallons per bedroom per<br />
day, or may be designed with more bedrooms than will be initially<br />
built, to allow for future expansion or increased use; and<br />
(4) Shall have an increased design capacity when the anticipated<br />
wastewater volume, based on the proposed use or occupancy <strong>of</strong> the<br />
residence or material fact, will likely exceed the minimum design<br />
capacity required under these regulations.<br />
d) Multi-Family Residences or Multi-Residence Developments (i.e.,<br />
community systems under 3,500 gallons per day):<br />
(1) Each single-family unit or residence shall have a minimum design<br />
capacity equal to that <strong>of</strong> a single family residence as specified above;<br />
and<br />
(2) Each single-family unit or residence shall have its own septic tank or<br />
trash trap, vessel, etc., prior to effluent discharge to a treatment<br />
component or soil dispersal component, as related to the minimum<br />
required treatment performance level for the proposed development.<br />
e) Non-Residential Buildings, Structures, or Facilities:<br />
(1) Shall have design capacities pursuant to “Onsite Wastewater<br />
Treatment Systems Manual,” USEPA, EPA-625/R-00/008, February<br />
2002 (available upon request to the Department), or as determined by<br />
