Debra is a speaker, church leader, and author (with Alan Hirsch) of Untamed: Reactivating a Missional<br />

Form of Discipleship. She is publishing a new book on sexuality this year. She currently serves as a<br />

minister of ‘Tribe of LA’, a community made up primarily of struggling artists and vagabonds. She was<br />

also a leader of Christian Associates (a church planting movement). Debra has a heart for those on the<br />

margins of the church and broader society.<br />

Over the last few years Debra has spent a lot of time amongst the LGBT community of Los Angeles,<br />

leading the LA Tribe (A church within the LGBT / Arts community). During this time she has taken time to<br />

reflect on a theology and practice of engagement with this community. In this session Debra will share<br />

her thoughts on these issues, providing an overview.<br />

Debra will lead a session for mission practitioners following on from Friday's seminar on this issue of<br />

reaching people in the LGBT community. This will be more focused on "how to" rather than the<br />

underpinning rationale.<br />

Alan is the founding director of <strong>Forge</strong> Mission Training Network. Currently he co-leads Future Travelers, a<br />

program helping megachurches become missional movements. The author of several books, Alan<br />

lectures internationally and is an adjunct professor at several seminaries in the US. His experience<br />

includes leading a local church movement among the marginalized, developing training systems for<br />

missional leadership.<br />

Paul wrote about the need for apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, shepherd(pastoral) and teaching<br />

leaders within the church. Teaching some of his most significant material Alan explains why we need<br />

once more to discover the five fold nature of leadership once again and how it is particularly essential in<br />

the context we find ourselves in today.<br />

In 2003, Alan wrote a book along with his co-conspirator Michael Frost (you may have heard of it). He will<br />

outline the main ideas in this seminar, and Norman Graham, Minister of Denny Baptist Church, will share<br />

how he has sought to implement these ideas within his church and what difference it has made.
