Speakers and Seminar Information Ian Wills Seminar speaker Ian has been the minister at Parkhead Church of the Nazerene in Glasgow for 16 years. Growing a Missional Church (Friday | 2pm | Church) Helen Brough Seminar speaker Mark Stirling Seminar speaker When we are aware of the missional opportunities and challenge before us but also of many church communities struggling to engage effectively, we are faced with questions of how to see change and transition. Come hear a story of how a traditional church was enabled to transition to one which is fully engaged in its community. Helen is on the <strong>Forge</strong> Scotland leadership team and is based in Dundee where she is developing Lattice – a missional networked community reaching women on the margins. Helen has also been facilitating a network of missional pioneers and church planters from those who've completed the Invest Course. Mark Stirling leads Cornerstone St Andrews, a new church committed to equipping God's people to live and speak the Good News in every sphere of life. Mark also works with the Navigators and leads the European Leadership Forum Disciple-making Leaders Network. Discipleship (Helen Brough & Mark Stirling| Saturday | 9.30am | Kirk Lounge) "Go and make disciples" is a verse we are familiar with, but we as the church struggle to do effectively. Mark Stirling and Helen Brough help us to reflect on the theology and practice of making disciples in the 21st century. Shona Stirling Seminar speaker Shona works at Whiteinch Church. Before Shona worked for 3 years in Newmains developing a fresh expression of church built around Children and Families. Wholeness for the Vulnerable & Broken (Helen Brough & Shona Stirling| Friday | 2pm | Blythswood) What does discipleship look like with those on the margins of society, whose lives are so full of potential but as yet blighted by circumstance, illness and wounds from the past? Helen Brough and Shona Stirling share principles and practice from living alongside, working with and learning from those on the margins.
Speakers and Seminar Information John Mason Seminar speaker Shaw Anderson Seminar speaker John is an accountant and worships in Easterhouse Baptist. In the 1980s he spent 2 years with OM and 3 years in Nepal with Interserve. He has been a councillor and MP and is currently SNP MSP for Glasgow Shettleston. Shaw is chairman of Glasgow City Mission. He also has a senior role within Glasgow City Council. Salt & Light - How to Nurture Them in Your Church (John Mason & Shaw Anderson | Friday | 2pm | Kirk Lounge) David Miller Seminar speaker Jacky Close Seminar speaker Discipleship in a Non Literate Culture (David Miller & Jacky Close | Friday | 2pm | Cowcaddens) Alan McWilliam Seminar speaker Living missionally isn't just about church planting. We are called to be salt and light in every area of society bring the seasoning of heaven and the light of Christ wherever we are. How can we see more and more people released into doing this as local churches? From the world of politics and local government John & Shaw bring a wealth of experience, wisdom and encouragement. Following ten years in Japan, David now lectures in Mission at ICC, preparing people for overseas mission and seeking to equip British Christians for the cross-cultural challenges of reaching a post- Christian society. He is also lay pastor at Millerston United Free Church. Having studied Theology at ICC and Glasgow University between 1992-1997 Jacky went on to work for Ruchill Church Youth and Family Outreach Project , initially as their Youth & Family Worker and then as Adult Outreach Worker, focussing on contextualising the gospel in the urban context. Many of the models we have for discipleship assume a level of literacy and style of learning that excludes many within our communities. Gleaning from other oral cultures and from lessons learned from years of practice, David Miller and Jacky Close will share both theory and stories to encourage and inspire. Alan is on the <strong>Forge</strong> Scotland team and is also the primary leader within the leadership of Whiteinch Church of Scotland with overall responsibility for vision, strategy and teaching. He is also involved in Clan Gathering, the Light Project and the Presbytery of Glasgow!
