W ORKING GROUP
1. Professor Iain McCalman (Chair)
Immediate past president of the Australian Academy
of the Humanities. He is a Federation Fellow and
Professor jointly at the Humanities Research Centre
and the Centre for Cross Cultural Research at the
Australian National University (ANU). He is a Fellow of
the Royal Historical Society, the Academy of the Social
Sciences in Australia, and the Australian Academy of
the Humanities.
2. Professor Mark Burry
Professor of Innovation (Spatial Information
Architecture) RMIT University. Professor Burry is the
acknowledged international leader in the application
of parametric design techniques to complex design
and building in architecture. Significantly, he has
provided evidence of the creative and generative
potential of parametric and associative approaches to
modeling in architecture and applied this knowledge
in collaboration with leading practices.
3. Dr Nicolette Fraillon
Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Australian
Ballet. Dr Fraillon graduated on viola from Melbourne
University, and furthered her studies at the
Hochschule für Music in Vienna. In 1992 she became
Music Director and Chief Conductor of the National
Ballet of the Netherlands. In 1998 Dr Fraillon took
up the position of Director, School of Music at the
Australian National University. Dr Fraillon became
Music Director and Chief Conductor of The Australian
Ballet in 2003.
4. Ms Helene George
Director of Creative Economy. Ms George is a business
development consultant in creative industries. She has
extensive experience advising on commercialisation,
business development and strategic policy in creative
industries. Ms George has over 15 years experience
generating business and commercial opportunities
across the creative sector, including projects in market
development, cultural tourism, indigenous culture,
retail and creative industries. She has worked as
a consultant, manager of creative companies and
facilities, independent artists’ agent, export trade
representative and as an executive in local government.
