W ORKING GROUP<br />
1. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Iain McCalman (Chair)<br />
Immediate past president <strong>of</strong> the Australian Academy<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Humanities. He is a Federation Fellow and<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor jointly at the Humanities Research Centre<br />
and the Centre for Cross Cultural Research at the<br />
Australian National University (ANU). He is a Fellow <strong>of</strong><br />
the Royal Historical Society, the Academy <strong>of</strong> the Social<br />
Sciences in Australia, and the Australian Academy <strong>of</strong><br />
the Humanities.<br />
2. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Mark Burry<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Innovation</strong> (Spatial Information<br />
Architecture) RMIT University. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Burry is the<br />
acknowledged international leader in the application<br />
<strong>of</strong> parametric design techniques to complex design<br />
and building in architecture. Significantly, he has<br />
provided evidence <strong>of</strong> the creative and generative<br />
potential <strong>of</strong> parametric and associative approaches to<br />
modeling in architecture and applied this knowledge<br />
in collaboration with leading practices.<br />
3. Dr Nicolette Fraillon<br />
Music Director and Chief Conductor <strong>of</strong> the Australian<br />
Ballet. Dr Fraillon graduated on viola from Melbourne<br />
University, and furthered her studies at the<br />
Hochschule für Music in Vienna. In 1992 she became<br />
Music Director and Chief Conductor <strong>of</strong> the National<br />
Ballet <strong>of</strong> the Netherlands. In 1998 Dr Fraillon took<br />
up the position <strong>of</strong> Director, School <strong>of</strong> Music at the<br />
Australian National University. Dr Fraillon became<br />
Music Director and Chief Conductor <strong>of</strong> The Australian<br />
Ballet in 2003.<br />
4. Ms Helene George<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Creative Economy. Ms George is a business<br />
development consultant in creative industries. She has<br />
extensive experience advising on commercialisation,<br />
business development and strategic policy in creative<br />
industries. Ms George has over 15 years experience<br />
generating business and commercial opportunities<br />
across the creative sector, including projects in market<br />
development, cultural tourism, indigenous culture,<br />
retail and creative industries. She has worked as<br />
a consultant, manager <strong>of</strong> creative companies and<br />
facilities, independent artists’ agent, export trade<br />
representative and as an executive in local government.<br />
