Conference city 

Cardiff is rapidly becoming one of the 

UK’s top conference destinations. Large 

or small, the city has a wide range of 

venues. It’s popular, too, as witnessed 

by the number of organisations that keep 

coming back. 

With several new hotels opening in recent 

years the number of hotel rooms in the area has 

increased to over 4,000, with more planned. 

The Wales Millennium Centre, home of Welsh 

National Opera and a world class arts and 

entertainment venue, further enhances Cardiff

Bustling waterfront city 

There’s plenty to see and do in Cardiff. The 

Castle is in the city centre, close to many of 

the conference facilities and a short walk from 

the Millennium Stadium. Also nearby is the 

National Museum Cardiff, home of one of the 

finest Impressionist collections outside France. 

A few minutes from the centre, the regenerated 

Cardiff Bay, one of Europe’s most attractive 

waterfront developments, is home to the Wales 

Millennium Centre, the National Assembly’s new

Shopping paradise 

Shopping is one of Cardiff’s main attractions, 

with the city’s blend of popular high street 

and designer stores as well as numerous 

Victorian and Edwardian shopping arcades. 

The majority of the shopping district is 

pedestrianised, and the covered arcades 

criss-cross the city centre, home to dozens of 

independent and boutique stores with unique 

gifts, clothes and food, many of them with a 

Welsh flavour.

future plans include the exciting St David’s

St David’s Hall 

St David’s Hall is the award-winning 

National Concert Hall and Conference 

Centre of Wales, owned and managed 

by Cardiff Council. Since its Royal 

opening in 1983, St David’s Hall has 

received high praise for its friendly 

welcome and efficient services as 

well as its sophisticated style and 

equipment. Help is always on hand 

behind the scenes for entertainers, 

conference and exhibition organisers 

and event managers, while frontof-house 

staff look after patrons, 

delegates and exhibitors throughout

Auditorium 

The visually stunning auditorium is 

an ideal setting for major events of 

all kinds. The unusual interlinking 

tiers wrap around the stage in petal 

formation, providing comfortable 

seating for 350 - 1500 people. Used 

on its own or in conjunction with any 

other facilities, it has successfully 

hosted party political conferences, 

shareholders’ annual meetings and 

spectacular corporate parties. It is the 

home of the BBC Cardiff Singer of 

the World competition and regularly

County Hall, the headquarters of Cardiff Council, is 

situated in the heart of Cardiff Bay. 

The attractive modern building and interior provides a

Millennium Stadium 

In just a short space of time Millennium 

Stadium has become the most striking 

icon of modern Wales. 

Opened in 1999 this unique city centre 

stadium is the home of Welsh rugby 

and currently hosts the F A Cup final. 

The largest covered stadium in Europe, 

it is the UK’s leading multi-purpose 

venue. The fully retractable roof

National Museum Cardiff 

The National Museum Cardiff, the 

flagship of the National Museum Wales, 

is situated in the heart of Cardiff’s 

impressive civic centre. The building, 

with it’s striking neo-classical façade 

was designed in 1909 and opened 

to the public in 1927. Today, it holds 

a unique position amongst British 

Museums in its diverse and outstanding 

range of art and science displays. 

Alongside the permanent displays, 

special temporary exhibitions add to 

the enjoyment for over a quarter of a 

million people who visit the National 

Museum Cardiff annually.

St Fagans National History Museum is

St Fagans Castle 

Home to the Plymouth estate for 

generations, St Fagans Castle and its 

gardens lie in the eastern part of the 

Museum grounds. A Grade 1 listed 

building, the castle is a fabulous 

example of Elizabethan architecture 

with interiors furnished to reflect the 

lives of the family in residence at the 

end of the 19th century. A perfect 

setting for an intimate wedding of up

tapestries, embroidered furniture,

Gardens 

Acres of mature woodlands and rolling 

parklands surround the Museum

example of an Arts & Crafts garden 

in Wales with delicate orange trees, 

sprays of agapanthus, rare roses and 

a tranquil pool. The Edwardian Rosery 

offers the intoxicating romance of the 

Edwardian secret garden with medieval 

fish ponds stocked with carp and 

cream, a splendid formal parterre and a 

landscaped arboretum. These gardens

The Oakdale Workmen’s Institute 

Moved brick by brick from the close 

community of Oakdale, Caerphilly 

the Workmen’s Institute is a fantastic

late Victorian splendour with original

there is a wide choice of entry points to the UK 

served by many ferry companies. Ferry ports 

link with the national motorway system to 

provide fast and easy access to Cardiff. 

By Road 

Cardiff is on the national motorway system. 

The M4 runs through the north of the city, 

making London a comfortable drive away. 

From the Midlands, the North of England and 

Scotland it is a straightforward drive via the 

M6, M5 and M50/M4. From the South and 

South West of England the approach 

is by M5 and M4. Access from 

West Wales is by M4.
