Grow: Maturing
Believers Through
the Truths of the
Christian Faith
By Russell A. Board
Item No.: 2102012
Price: $6.99
Most Christians are well
versed in the Great Commission
Jesus gave his followers: take
the gospel to all nations. And
the plethora of youth camps,
evangelical crusades and
short-term missions trips U.S.
churches sponsor each year
attests to that fact.
But what happens after conversion? The new
believer is often left with many questions that only
someone of more mature faith can answer. Making a
personal decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior
is the easy part; understanding the depth of that
commitment and the intricate spiritual ramifications
is much more tedious. What the early church did so
well—and what many churches today often fall short in
doing—was discipling believers.
“Discipling new believers is a strategically important
task—and often an ignored one. But Russell Board is
committed to making sure new Christians are rooted
and grounded in God’s Word so they can grow, thrive,
and make disciples themselves,” said J. Lee Grady,
executive editor of Experience.
To this end, a resource like the newly updated Grow:
Maturing Believers Through the Truths of the Christian
Faith is invaluable. Author Russell Board explains
complex doctrinal and theological concepts in a simple,
straightforward manner that allows virtually any reader
to understand and apply them.
Board is no stranger to discipleship and missions,
which makes him an invaluable source on the subject.
He and his wife, Sandra, have been missionaries for
over 27 years, and Russell currently serves the IPHC as
World Missions Ministries’ continental director for Asia
and the Pacific. Russell also wrote the Adult Student
curriculum for One Accord Resources prior to this
assignment.
“I am very excited at the publication of this newly
revised and expanded edition of my book on basic
Christian truths,” says Board. “I pray that God will use
it to establish many of His people in the faith, and help
them grow into mature and fruitful disciples.”
Originally published under the title First Things First:
Foundations of the Faith for New (and Old) Believers,
this book offers a wealth of information concerning
basic Christian beliefs. The topics covered range
from introductory concepts like sin, salvation, and
redemption to more complex tenets of the faith, such
as the doctrine of the Trinity, baptism in the Holy
Spirit, and the second coming of Christ.
Each chapter offers biblically rich explanations,
complete with reflection questions and references
for further study. From cover to cover, Grow is an
essential resource for both mature Christians and new
believers.
