Protection classes · Safety classes
Our statements concerning the resistance of our luminaires against the penetration of dust,
solid foreign bodies and water are made according to EN 60598/ VDE 0711.
The respective degree of protection IP (International Protection) is marked by an IP
number system according to IEC 529.
Please see the table on this page for classification of the degree of protection according to
EN 60598.

Safety class I distinguishes luminaires with an earth connection. Under
faulty conditions, the power supply is cut off by an overload device.
Safety class II distinguishes luminaires that, apart from functional
insulation, are provided with additional protective insulation.
Under faulty conditions, no dangerous voltage can reach metal parts
which can be touched. Many luminaires are available in Safety
class I and also in Safety class II. Please enquire accordingly.
Safety class III distinguishes luminaires operating on extra-low safety
voltage. They can only be connected to safety transformers
according to EN 61558/VDE 0570, EN 61347/VDE 712 or VDE 0100
Part 410. Transformers must be approved for the type of installation.
