Islington celebrates London Living Wage Week
The Living Wage campaign’s
banner was raised over the
Town Hall to celebrate Living
Wage Week in November.
Islington was one of the
first Living Wage authorities
in the country to gain the
accreditation. Since then,
the council’s support for the
Living Wage includes:
increasing the wages of
approximately 110 lowpaid
council staff, mostly
women, and 80 per cent
of its contractors
helping Samuel Rhodes
School become Islington's
first accredited Living
Wage school, and working
with 14 more schools to
help them get accredited
encouraging 24 of the
25 Tenant Management
Organisations (TMOs) to
go Living Wage
working with private
sector employers,
including Schools Office
Services, which now pays
more than 100 staff a
Living Wage
working with Islington's
voluntary sector
employers, including
Voluntary Action Islington,
which is now an accredited
Living Wage employer
working with local
employers to adopt the
Living Wage, for at least
760 Islington based staff
across private public and
voluntary sectors.

Did you know? It takes 7-10 days to provide you
with a copy of your council tax bill, but signing up for
eBilling means you can print it whenever you need it!
