Safety precautions for sensor handling
Warning
When the sensor is damaged or otherwise manipulated,
alkaline (caustic) electrolyte may escape. With a pH
value of 13, the electrolyte is strongly alkaline. Always
avoid contact with skin, particularly eyes and mucous
membranes.
In case of a contamination immediately flush the affected
parts with plenty of water.
If you don’t feel well, immediately consult a doctor.
When replacing the electrolyte and the membrane module,
it is inevitable that electrolyte comes into contact with
your fingers. Therefore be sure to wear protective gloves.

Caution
• It is recommended to replace the electrolyte as
described on page 30 to compensate for electrolyte loss /
consumption during storage.
• Visually check the membrane for cracks or notches
(When the membrane is damaged, the membrane
module must be replaced, see page 30).
• Connect the sensor to the meter observing the corresponding
instructions (see page 14).
Prior to initial start-up or after the sensor has been disconnected
from the meter for more than 5 minutes, the sensor
must be polarized before calibration or measurement.
