“Youth Leader” training should include guidelines to assure
that neither adults nor youths find themselves in situations
which could lead to dangerous, illegal or immoral behavior.
Even the appearance of impropriety or situations which
could lead to false charges that are not easily refuted must
be avoided.
Advance planning must always include reasonable safety
precautions to prevent foreseeable illness or accident. Also,
relationships between “Youth Leaders” and young people,
and even between young people themselves, must be conducted
with propriety. These precautions apply especially
when traveling, in lodging situations and during any conseling
of youths.
Refer to the “Youth Protection Program” handbook (#4670)
for more information concerning “Youth Leader” appointment,
training, “Youth Leader” practices, education of youth
participants, and child abuse reporting requirements.
