Instructions for Authors<br />

Audiovisual Equipment /<br />

Speakers Service Centre (SSC)<br />

The Speakers’ Service Centre (SSC) is<br />

centrally located on the 1 st floor <strong>of</strong> the Prague<br />

<strong>Congress</strong> Center (please refer to the overview<br />

on pages 2/3).<br />

All lecture rooms will be equipped with a<br />

PC <strong>and</strong> a data projector for PowerPoint<br />

presentations only. Presentations must be<br />

h<strong>and</strong>ed in via floppy disk, CD-ROM, zip drive,<br />

memory stick or via your own laptop before<br />

your lecture.<br />

It is essential for the smooth running <strong>of</strong> the<br />

congress that all speakers h<strong>and</strong> in their<br />

PowerPoint presentations at least one hour<br />

before the beginning <strong>of</strong> the session.<br />

Enough time must be allowed to check the<br />

presentation carefully <strong>and</strong> for the staff to<br />

enter the data into the system. Speakers<br />

will have the opportunity to check their<br />

presentations on PCs available in the SSC.<br />

Poster Sessions<br />

Guided Poster Walks<br />

For the second time at ECCMID, guided poster<br />

walks on selected topics will take place over<br />

lunch time. During each <strong>of</strong> the above poster<br />

sessions certain abstracts will be presented in<br />

a moderated poster walk. Chairpersons will<br />

Publication<br />

All accepted abstracts will be published in a<br />

supplement to <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Microbiology</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Infection (CMI), the <strong>of</strong>ficial journal <strong>of</strong> ESCMID<br />

as well as on a CD-Rom. Both items will be<br />

available during the congress <strong>and</strong> are<br />

included in the registration fee.<br />

Please be aware that the abstracts will<br />

be printed as they were received by on-line<br />

electronic submission without editing.<br />

Starting May 1, 2004, accepted abstracts can<br />

also be viewed on the congress’ website:<br />

www.escmid.org/eccmid2004<br />

Following the 14 th ECCMID, a CD-ROM<br />

including most <strong>of</strong> the posters presented<br />

during the congress will be produced <strong>and</strong><br />

mailed to all delegates interested in this<br />

feature (you will find a voucher in your<br />

congress bag). Authors <strong>of</strong> abstracts accepted<br />

for poster presentation have received<br />

separate instructions.<br />

Poster dimensions are: width: 147 cm; height: 97 cm. Posters will be displayed for one full day. Authors are<br />

requested to be present at their poster during the whole time <strong>of</strong> the poster session <strong>and</strong> to mount <strong>and</strong> remove<br />

their posters at the above-mentioned times. Posters that have not been removed by the author at 18.00 are<br />

removed <strong>and</strong> disposed <strong>of</strong> by the congress staff.<br />
