Let’s make HIFA 2013 Carbon
Neutral.
HIFA is committed to being a carbon neutral event.
HIFA is a contributor to greenhouse gas emissions directly and indirectly. Transport, air travel,
paper and advertising materials are some of the components that contribute towards climate
change.
HIFA has partnered with Environment Africa to make HIFA a low-carbon and ultimately a carbon
neutral event. This is being done through establishing greenhouse gas reduction and offsetting
initiatives which include:
• Recycling and reuse of all banners and posters.
• Recycling depositories will be available to take glass, paper, cans and plastics.
• HIFA 2013 will see the launch of a carbon offsetting programme focusing on Air and Motor
vehicle travel, whereby participants, public, artists, sponsors, service providers etc will be able
to offset their carbon footprint by sponsoring trees to be planted after HIFA at selected schools
dovetailing Environment Africa and HIFA’s schools programmes.
