SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2006
6:30AM-7:30AM
200 - SHAKTI: THE EXPERIENCE
Lawrence Biscontini
(W/O)
SHAKTI is the Sanskrit word for the energy released throughout
the body when one practices particular hatha yogic asanas. This is
a non-purist mind-body approach: fuse fitness applications of
yoga vinyasas, non-traditional yogic music and even some t’ai chi
and pilates dance with choreographed applications of different
types of music and movement. This workshop will allow you to
experience different styles of choreographed flow so you can learn
to choreograph your own version of SHAKTI. FIS, NWS, MBS
8:00AM-9:15AM
GENERAL SESSION: MINDSET OF A
CHAMPION
Helen Vanderburg
Have you ever wondered how the best
athletes in the world maintain their clear
vision and composure under the pressure of
competition? Helen will discuss the five
key skills to develop the mindset of a
champion. She’ll show you how to
recognize and believe in your potential and
how to maintain a winning attitude in the face of daily
challenges. Join Helen as she shares her World Championship
experiences and how they can help you to soar with a winning
mindset! FIS, PTS, NWS, PFS, OAS, PDS, MBS, SCS
10:00AM-11:30AM
201 - SPORTS STEP
Petra Kolber
(W/S)
Come and feel the power within when you place sports influenced
drills onto the step. Move up and over and around and down.
Challenge the body through directional changes, speed play and
power variations all brought together in an interval style format.
Sports Step will bring out the coach in you and the athlete in your
students. FIS, SCS
202 - GET THE LOW DOWN
Krista Popowych
(W/S)
Low impact doesn't have to mean low intensity. Join Krista in a
workshop that incorporates movement driven patterns with bursts
of pump and power. By including a few simple and challenging
options within the body of the choreography, the cardio workout
goes from low intensity to heart pumping. Get the Low Down
will stimulate your creative energy through the process of
movement re-discovery, pattern play and intensity options. FIS
203 - POSTURAL ASSESSMENT FOR PERSONAL TRAINERS
Alex McMillan
(W/S)
A postural assessment is necessary to custom design any client’s
exercise program. It will provide you with critical information to
help determine which exercises a client should do and which they
should stay away from. Performing this type of assessment before
you begin training a client will position you as a professional in
your community. Generic exercise programs are a thing of the
past – after attending this session you’ll be on the cutting edge of
program design. PTS
204 - STOTT PILATES® FITNESS CIRCLE® FLOW
Sponsored by STOTT PILATES®
Andrea Fairborn
(W/S)
Learn what’s new in Fitness Circle programming and experience
firsthand how this versatile accessory can help develop greater
body awareness, while increasing strength, flexibility and muscle
tone. This workshop will show you how to add upper and lower
body resistance to workouts and target hard-to-tone areas.
Participants will also get tips on how to match specific exercises
to particular body types and brush up on their cueing and
correcting skills to ensure safety and effectiveness of the
205 - BUILDING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS
others. In this session you will learn what it takes to develop
effective relationship building skills that take your business to the
next level. You will learn how to conduct a comprehensive selfassessment
and then how to work with others so that they have a
genuine interest in working with you. The best part – you will
make some great friends along the way! FIS, PTS, NWS, PFS, OAS,
PDS, MBS
206 - GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING THAT PROFITS
Maureen Hagan
(L)
physiotherapist the recipe for designing your own small group
training programs and discover what is popular and why. By
attending this session you will learn how to incorporate Mo’s FITiology:
