Your Decisions Matter...National Healthcare Decisions Day is
recognized in April. Think about what is important to you and
document your wishes in a Health Care Directive. Be sure to
name someone to speak for you when you can no longer speak
for yourself. An education session is being offered at 7:00 PM
on Monday, April 16 at First Lutheran Church in the Dining
Room. This session will provide information about Health Care
Directives and why it is so important to document your
wishes. To learn more about Health Care Directives or this session
contact Denise Gaard, Parish Nurse at 847-5656.
In collaboration with National Healthcare Decision Day, Essentia
Health St. May's presents "Writing a Good Ending: Advanced
Care Planning" a program discussing healthcare goals and options
as we age, on April 16 from noon to 1:00 pm. Clarissa
Dumdei, NP-C, and Lanny Sweeney, Chaplain, will discuss using
a Health Care Directive and/or a POLST to provide written direction
for end of life care. RSVP by April 11 to 847-5611 ext.1109.
Ultreya! Renew your Cursillo experience and meet other 4 th
Day-ers that live their faith in and around Fargo/Moorhead. Saturday,
April 21, following the 5 p.m. Mass in The Gathering Place at
St. Joseph’s Church in Moorhead we will have a potluck and
Ultreya. Bring your family and a dish to share.
Sanford’s “Living Well Workshop” is now called “Better
Choices, Better Health.” A free Better Choices, Better Health
Workshop can help you get the support you need and find useful
ways to deal with pain, fatigue, and stress. This workshop is for
anyone with an ongoing health condition. The workshop will be
offered at First Lutheran Church on 6 successive Thursdays from
1-3:30 beginning April 26. For more information or to register,

MINNEAPOLIS BASED "APOLLO MALE CHORUS"
The "Apollo Male Chorus", under the direction of Roger Satrang
Hoel, will be featured in a concert at First Lutheran Church, Detroit
Lakes, Minnesota, Thursday, April 19th, at 7:00 p.m.
Founded in 1895 , the Apollo Male Chorus is one of the oldest
continuously performing male choruses in the United States.
Their concert entitled, "Homeward Bound" contains songs of the
sea, and other selections. As per their tradition of inviting “host”
musical groups to join them, they have asked the First Lutheran
Jubilate Choir, and the Alleluia Ringers to be part of this concert
as well. The public is invited to attend. A free will donation will be
accepted at the door.

Do you believe in Heaven… do you believe in Hell? The
thing is, if you believe in Heaven you must believe in Hell. I
have encountered people throughout my life who will not
acknowledge Hell; they don't believe in it. To me that is a
scary thought; to not believe in Hell. To not acknowledge it
is one of the greatest deception by the Devil. Every time I
think of Heaven/Hell I think of St. Faustina. She recorded in
her Diary, "Let the sinner know that he will be tortured
throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of
to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that
no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or
that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say
what it is like...how terribly souls suffer there! Consequently,
I pray even more fervently for the conversion of
sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O My
Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world,
amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend you by the least
sin." (Diary 741)
On Sunday, April 15, at 3:00 pm we celebrate a day in the
church called Divine Mercy Sunday. Years ago, our Lord
appeared to a little nun named Maria Faustina Kowalska and
revealed many things to her; many things she wrote in a
diary. Most importantly, He appeared to her and made her
an instrument of His mercy. You may have seen the image
of Jesus with blood and water rays flowing through him, or
you may have recited the Divine Mercy Chaplet. In either
case, we will be gathering as a church community, as a family,
to pray for His mercy upon our lives. I encourage you
all to come and participate in this, and to remember the hour
of Mercy of 3:00 pm everyday for the rest of your life.
Blessed John Paul II Leadership Camp July 8-12, 2012
Open to all youth who are going into 7 th , 8 th , and 9 th grade in the
fall of 2012. This camp is designed around the idea of creating
servant leaders through the vision of Blessed Pope John Paul II. If
you have any questions or would like a brochure please contact
Brady at the Parish Office.
"Reality Check"
April 18, 2012
A retreat for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We are blessed to have
a group of young adults come and put on a retreat for all our middle
school kids. The retreat will start at 4:30 and end by 9:30 on
that Wednesday. The cost is $5 to help cover pizza and
pop. Please contact Brady with any questions.

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. The Vatican created this special
feast day in 2000. For those who are not familiar with Divine
Mercy, it is a promise that Jesus himself made for a complete
forgiveness of sins and punishment on that day. He made this
promise and all the details in a diary that He commanded St.
Faustina to write in the 1930’s. Jesus revealed to her everything
he wanted made known about his mercy. To obtain this promise
one has to go to confession (preferable before Divine Mercy
Sunday) and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of Divine
Mercy.
At the conclusion of the 11:00 A.M. Mass today, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed
on the altar for adoration. The day will conclude with the Chaplet of Divine
Mercy and Benediction at 3:00 P.M. All are welcome!

TIBBETTS BENEFIT: Posters and information are inserted
into this weekend’s Parish Bulletin in regard to the benefit for
Kelli Tibbetts of our parish. Some weeks ago Kelli was injured
in an automobile accident and is presently recovering from
those injuries and at the same time is also unable to work. To
help Kelli and her family with some of the incidental expenses
Holy Rosary Parish is sponsoring a benefit breakfast to assist
them on Sunday, April 22 beginning at 9:00 A.M. WE hope
that you will be able to turn out and help us support one of our
parishioners at this time. We are also in need of kitchen and
dining room volunteers that day. For more information, please
call Yvette Bruflodt (846-0229). Thanks in advance for any
help you can give us!
DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL: We continue to receive
your pledges and donations to this year’s Diocesan Annual Appeal.
Thus far our parish has pledged $47,591.46. Our parish
goal this year is $65,927. In past years this parish has been very
loyal to making the pledge amount. Additional envelopes for
the DAA are available at the entrances of the church.
THE PARISH EXTENDS ITS SYMPATHY to the following:
to EUNICE CHARLOTTE ―CHARLEE‖ BEHLMER, whose
funeral was on Friday in our church; to Jerry Leaf on the death
of his mother, HELEN LEAF, whose funeral was last Wednesday
at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Pelican Rapids; to
Susan Disse and Jerry Disse on the death of Susan’s father and
Jerry’s father-in-law, HAROLD ―SMOKY‖ JOHNSON whose
funeral was Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes
and Marlene Scherping on the death of her husband, ALBIN
―ALBIE‖ SCHERPING, whose funeral will be on Tuesday at
1:00 P.M. in our church. May each find peace and joy in God’s
Eternal Kingdom.
Last week, we included in the bulletin the letter from Father Yves
Francois sent to Holy Rosary to thank all who contributed financially
to the upcoming mission to Chantel, Haiti. That letter
was sent before I was able to send the many bottles of children’s
vitamins you graciously gave to dispense on that mission trip. I
have since sent the vitamins to Father Yves. Thank you for all
who gave so generously with either a financial or vitamin contribution.

Pastoral Associate “Sharings” -

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults… Mystagogy is a phase
in the RCIA process that invites us to come together and reflect
on the Paschal Mystery as was experienced in the Sacraments
of Initiation recently. Candidates, Sponsors, Team - as Easter
People let us gather together to share our story on Tuesday evening,
April 24, 5:30– 6:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room.
Infant Baptism Preparation… Next session is scheduled
for Thursday, May 3 from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the
Holy Family Room. If you are planning to present your
baby for Baptism, please contact the Parish Office (847-1393)
before May 3. Whenever possible, try to have both parents attend
the preparation session.
Marriage Prep team will meet next Sunday, April 22 at 10 am in
the Parish Resource Center.
We have a limited quantity of “Little White Books” - 6 minute
reflections on the Sunday Gospels of Easter. This is printed by
the Diocese of Saginaw. These are on a first come first serve
basis. If you wish a copy, stop by the Parish Office to pick it up.
