The Holy Qur’an
And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.
(Ch. 21:V.108)
Hadith
Abu Saeed Khudri (ra) narrates:
“The Holy Prophet (saw) used to feed camels himself: He would perform
household chores: mend shoes, darn clothes, milk goats, and eat in the
company of servants. If a servant became tired while grinding flour, he
would help him at this. He would not feel belittled carrying household
goods from the market to the house. He would shake hands with the
rich and the poor alike. He would always be the first to extend greetings.
He would not disdain accepting an invitation - not even so small an
invitation as to join in eating dates. He would relieve those who toiled.
He was mild-tempered and kind-hearted. His conduct was excellent and
he was always cheerful. He would smile but would not laugh loudly;
generous, but not extravagant. He was tender-hearted and merciful to all
Muslims alike. He would never eat his fill to the point where one is likely
to start yawning. He would never extend his hand motivated by greed.”
(Mishkaat)
Writings of The Promised Messiah (as)
A strange phenomenal event took place in the deserts of Arabia,
when hundreds of thousands of dead became alive within a few
days, and those who had been corrupted through generations
took on Divine colour. The blind began to see and the tongues of
the dumb began to flow with Divine wisdom. Such a revolution
took place in the world as no eye had seen or no ear had heard
of before. Do you realise what this was? All this was brought
about by prayers during the darkness of night of one who had
been wholly lost in God. This created an uproar in the world and
manifested such wonders as seemed impossible at the hands of
that unlettered helpless person. O Allah! Send down blessings and
peach on him and on his followers in proportion to his concern
and suffering for the Muslim Ummah (the people of Islam), and
shower upon him the light of Thy mercy for ever.
Summary of Friday Sermon
18 th January 2013, Baitul Futuh
Reviving the Spirit of Waqf-e-Nau
The reason to follow all of the above is to be among those who save the
world from destruction. In order to fulfil this requirement, God established
the Ahmadiyya Community through the Promised Messiah(as). This is the only
community in which one sees mother-to-be praying passionately as mentioned
in the aforementioned verse, freeing the unborn child from the shackles of the
world and dedicating it to service of God and praying for acceptance of this.
It is the Ahmadiyya Jama’at alone which has fathers who bring up their children
in such a manner that when the children reach adolescence they are ready for
every sacrifice. These children write to the Khalifa of the time saying, ‘the first
pledge was my parents, I now make the pledge myself; send me to sacrifice wherever you choose. You will always find
me among those who are patient and who have resolve and those who do not shirk away from the pledge of their
parents. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih said that today he would like to remind that when Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IV(rh)
had initiated Waqf-e-Nau scheme it was with the hope and with the prayer that groups of people to serve faith will
always be available and that the current of flowing water will never be broken. Translators will be available to the
Jama’at, Tabligh and Tarbiyyat workers will be available to the Jama’at in good numbers, and other departments of the
administration of the Jama’at will also have life-devotees available at all times.
Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih told Waqf-e-Nau children aged 13 and 12 to start thinking about themselves and ponder
over their importance and not simply be happy that they are Waqf-e-Nau. They will appreciate their importance
when they will realise their objectives. As for those who are 15 and 16 years old, they should have a very good
understanding of their importance and their responsibilities. Thirdly, promise to show patience and resolve in every
sacrifice for the sake of gaining God’s pleasure. No matter how hard the time, he or she has to honour the pledge of
Waqf regardless. No worldly greed should ever make them stumble in their pledge.
Some people have raised objections here and in Germany about the standard of education in Jamia. This is a wholly
unwarrantable objection. The complaint is that after graduating from Jamia the students are not fluent in Arabic.
Jamia does not only focus on languages and a wide range of subjects are taught there. If some students are inclined
to languages, InshaAllah they will be specialised. With the grace of God the education of Jamia is based on extensive
studies. Waqf-e-Nau members should daily read religious books, even if a few pages. 100% Waqf-e-Nau members
should listen to the Friday sermon. Once Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih found that only 10% present in a class listened
regularly. The department as well as parents should pay special attention to this. The administration should try and
make interactive Waqf-e-Nau programmes.
Importance of Jumu’ah
Huzur (aba) said that invocation
of Durud is closely linked to
acceptance of prayers. With its
blessings prayers made during
other times will gain acceptance
Huzur’s (aba) Friday Sermon
(alislam.org)
Allah and His angels said blessings
on the Prophet. O ye who believe!
you also should invoke blessings
on him and salute him with the
salutation of peace.
(Ch. 33:V.57)
The Holy Prophet (saw) said:
“Profusely invoke Darud on me
on this day for this is the day
your invocation of Darud will be
presented to me”.
Health Article
Long-term aspirin ‘blindness link’
People who regularly take aspirin for many years, such as those with heart
problems, are more likely to develop a form of blindness, researchers say.
A study on 2,389 people, in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, showed aspirin
takers had twice the risk of “wet” age-related macular degeneration. The disease
damages the ‘sweet spot’ in the retina, obscuring details in the centre of a
patient’s field of vision.
The researchers said there was not yet enough evidence to change aspirin use. Taking low doses of aspirin every day
does reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack in patients with cardiovascular disease. There are even suggestions
it could prevent cancer.
One in 10 people in the study, conducted at the University of Sydney, were taking aspirin at least once a week. On
average the participants were in their mid-60s. Eye tests were performed after five, 10 and 15 years. By the end of the
study, the researchers showed that 9.3% of patients taking aspirin developed wet age-related macular degeneration
(AMD) compared with 3.7% of patients who did not take aspirin.
Their report said: “The increased risk of [wet] AMD was detected only after 10 or 15 years, suggesting that cumulative
dosing is important.
“Given the widespread use of aspirin, any increased risk of disabling conditions will be significant and affect many
people.”
Wet AMD is caused by blood vessels growing in the wrong place. They cause swelling and bleeding which damages
the retina. The process can happen very quickly with vision being damaged in days. Age, smoking and a family history
are the main risk factors.
High-risk
There are already known risks of aspirin such as causing internal bleeding. The research team suggest the risk of
damaging eyesight “may also need to be considered”.
They acknowledge that for most patients there is “insufficient evidence” to change how aspirin is prescribed. However,
they suggested using the drug may need to be reappraised in high-risk patients such as those with wet AMD in one
eye already.
