REAdER'S Reader's Column A fRIEnD In THE SKY n Basanta Kumar Parajuli was all set to fly to I Bhadrapur for an official business on January. Taking into consideration the services, facilities and safety, I chose to fly by Buddha Air for its good name and prestige in the market. I was scheduled to fly by flight No. 903 at 11:30 a.m. but that very morning, an urgent meeting showed up which I had to attend. The meeting ended only at 10:30 a.m,which made me late to report at the airport. Panic stricken, I rushed to my car and started towards Tribhuvan International Airport. Unfortunately, I was stuck in a traffic jam at Kamal Pokhari and then at Gyaneshwor. I did not see any possibility of getting out of it and so opted to go through a longer route. In the meantime, I called Buddha Air Office at the airport from my mobile with a hope that the flight might be delayed. To my dismay, it was not. I was further requested to reach as fast as possible. This made me even more nervous and so, I urged my driver to hurry up. Luckily, there were no more traffic jams and I reached the airport at 11:25. Although, I breathed a sigh of relief, I realized I still had a long way to go. I was worried, as the reporting time had already passed. Adding to my frustration was the long queue for security check. As I stood there motionless, I saw a familiar Ground Hostess of Buddha Air. Without losing a second, I ran towards her and briefed my problem. She immediately directed me to the office of Buddha Air as the ticket counter for Bhadrapur was already closed. I ran into the office and talked to the duty manager and told him my situation. He immediately contacted the pilots in the cockpit and requested to stop for a while. The young and smart man helped me to pay the airport tax and security check and everything that followed. Finally, I got into the plane but all the anxiety and tension made me forget to thank all the people who had helped me. Through out the flight period, I thought about the trouble Buddha Air had taken for a "mere" passenger. The behaviour of its employees made me feel even more attached to it. I felt privileaged and honoured to be the member of Royal Club and the regular passenger of Buddha Air. From helpers to crewmembers, all are committed towards the safety and comfort of their passengers not only in words but in actions as well.
