Shopping in Kathmandu can be a very
exhilarating and fun experience if you
know how and where.
electronics
From kitchen gadgets, mobiles to the latest in audio and
video systems – Kathmandu is definitely the shopper's Mecca.
You can buy the best of cameras from various stores in New
Road – Snapper and Photo Concern are well recommended.
For television, sets and music systems head towards the
department stores or the branded exclusive showrooms of
Samsung, Philips and Sony. Cheaper alternatives from China
can be found in the China Market located near Dharara.
There are several mobile phone showrooms across town, we
recommend Digitek on Durbar Marg. For home appliances,
the department stores definitely are recommended for a
wider range and for demonstration and guarantee purposes.
boutiques
If your wallet isn’t lighter yet, a trip to the various
boutiques in Kathmandu is worth a try. They are mostly
located on Kupondole, Putali Sadak, Kantipath and Durbar
Marg. Fashion has come a long way in Kathmandu and
the wonderful ensembles on sees in various international
magazines are recreated under the magical guidance of
trained fashion designers in boutiques or original creations
made just for you. Worth a try are Wheels and Yasmine
on Durbar Marg, Swoniga in Kantipath, Aakarshan and
Tarunica in Kupondole.
