Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Waschuk’s
Grade 1 Class
The grade one students have been studying cycles in math and
science. We are learning about all the things that go around: seasons,
months, days of the week and times in a day. We continue to work on
numbers. As we add and subtract, we count forward and backward. We
count by ones and twos and fives. We can see how numbers can be
broken into parts and written as equations.
We are also enjoying fairy tales. We have been listening to fairy tales,
and acting out plays. We are now writing our own fairy tales and
creating art and structures related to castles, dragons and story
characters.
In Social Studies we have been learning about making decisions that
reflect care, concern, and responsibility for the natural and social
environment that we live in. We have been learning about Manitoba
symbols such as the prairie crocus, the white spruce and the great grey
owl. We are learning about Canadian symbols and the words to our
national anthem.
